Does anyone know if there are any metaphysical differences between Black copal and White copal?
Are infernal/chthonic spirits more attune to Black copal?

I don’t have an answer, but I’m bumping your topic because I want to know, too.
Would it be possible for you to channel gnosis about this?
I’m not a good candidate for this, to be honest. When I see an herb or material list, my first inclination is to ask why at least half of it is necessary to begin with.
I’ve used half of the ingredients in a list and gotten results. I usually look at lists of correspondences and my first inclination is - how do I know that that actually works that way?
So, I see this as a potential learning experience (that I would then have to verify). But copal I’ve blooded seems to be better appreciated than straight white copal.
White copal is generally considered a “neutral” incense, good for the evocation of any spirit. EA recommends it in his books.
I’ve never heard of black copal though.
Although both offer relatively the same as far as negative energy cleansing, purifying and such…
White copal usually is used as a space clearing, refresher, positive vibrations and even as a “treat” to spirits as its white smoke it gives off has been said to be sort of like a mutal aid or well like a welcoming
Black Copal is used more so to help open up your paths… obstacles you may have in your way. Opening new paths and reenergizing your surroundings. Protection and centering your mental, physical and spiritual zones. This kind of copal is what also is used a lot for those loved ones who have passed. Its quite commonly burned all day long during Dia de los Muertos to help aid their path
Both though are great cleansing tools and either can be used for such. Burning it just helps clear out and bring forth a “clean” and open space
ok thanks, do you also have any information about gold copal?
I was hoping someone would know more. Thanks, Star.
Golden offers the same use for spiritual cleansing, negative clearing and such
But it is more commonly burned in spaces to bring forth creative energy, abundance and loving vibrations.
Also although they each have a similar clean scent you can smell the difference amongst all 3. Golden is more pleasant so to speak. Very sweet aroma, followed by white then Black.
All 3 can be used anytime. Though given the factor each bring additionally is what may alter ones decision as to which they burn. You can never go wrong with either
Welcome. Just my 2 cents, Mami would have them burning from time to time so I grew up with it being one of the things to burn at least even once quarterly to revibe the space and allow in all the energy
Oooh…we should talk about a trade before I leave Oahu. I can offer Oahu land snail shells, Pearl Harbor driftwood, etc…
I have Copal, but our cultures are different. I would LOVE to make a trade. Please hit me up in PM.
Will do. I think the lack of just being able to buy Golden and Black just anywhere like White at least in the states is why it seems like a “rare” thing. Though over the years i have found they both have been a bit more out there as white
One other tidbid fact about black. Whenever it was like bad juju or evil eye charm would break, heavy feeling of just darkness. She would always say black was to be burned. I guess sort of like warding off evil. So some use black to burn while doing like banishing work or sending back/breaking evil that was sent your way. Just a little fyi for anyone who may work with materials based on their benefit. Cant really say why each color was set in place for its purposes they are used now but I assume it kind of is similar to candle work and its colors
Interesting. Thank you, Star. I’d like to hit you up in PM to talk about getting some. Do you mind?
Would she just burn the nergo copal to banish negative energy from a person or would she actively smudge a person with it to the remove bad energy?
Copal isnt necessarily used for smudging persay like one would with Palo Santo or Sage. Its more like any other incense that you keep burning as someone would lets say like a oil diffuser or alike. In this case it clears away negative energy+ vibrations from ones own environment, personal self/home/area in which also helps clear from those who also live within those same areas.
ok thank you, the reason I asked that, was because I wanted to find out how the cleansing of a area or person would work.
Because I read on this forum, that if you want to banish or cleanse a space. You not only should burn incense, but also be mental active. Such as visualizing that the negative energy dissolves into the air. Matter of fact the person wrote that if one would not be mental active/participating there would be no bashing at all.
