I’m a very new beginner to this whole thing but I feel the most drawn to demons and Lucifer currently. I just wanna know what everyone’s favorite books or guides are on the subject of invoking and especially summoning these spirits. Ones with proven results please! I also really prefer forms of communication that include respecting the demons, so if you guys know anything including that then please drop it here!
Works of Darkness and Evoking Eternity by EA Koetitng
Summoning Spirits by Konstantinos
Any book by S. Connolly. Even her little chapbooks have really good information.
For Lucifer in particular, Asenath Mason’s Rites of Lucifer.
Damn @DarkestKnight said all i had to say before me(;
Thanks for the suggestions! It’s been some time since you’ve posted this, I was wondering if there are any more youd recommend?
Also, do you work with angels? If so what links or books would you suggest as well? @DarkestKnight
I do work with angels, but I work with them through EA’s system so there is really no difference for me between evoking an angel and evoking a demon because the technique is the same. The system outlined in Evoking Eternity, for example, can be used for any spirit.
Konstantinos’ book Summoning Spirits can also be used for angels and has the sigils for many included in the “50 Spirits to Evoke” in the back of the book.
I highly recommend EA’s book Kingdoms of Flame as well. There are 3 types of beings in that grimoire, demons, angels, and a type EA simply calls Spirits with a capital S. The angels are a bit “fiery” and not as aloof as the Archangels can seem.
Another book I like, which might seem odd here on a black magick forum, is Angels by Silver Ravenwolf. She is Wiccan, but her book takes a refreshing, non dogmatic look at angels and was one of the first I read that approached angels outside of Christianity, and showed that anyone can work with them, regardless of personal belief or creed. She also saw Archangel Gabriel as female which I have never seen anyone else speak about.
Oh I have Evoking Eternity. I’ve been putting off reading it for awhile but when I first got it I skimmed through it. I didn’t see a list of spirits to call upon- but you just said it’s an outline on ‘how’ to. Correct? Is that why?
I’m getting Konstantinos book ASAP. I just looked it up- there’s two of them that he produced. There’s
“Summoning Spirits: The Art of Magical Evocation”
and
“Summoning Spirits (Llewellyn’s Practical Magick Series)”
Which one do I get?
I just got Kingdoms of Flames. I’m excited! I’ll look into “Angels” by Silver Raven wolf. Thanks.
I wanted to ask for your opinion on DoM by Gordon Winterfield. A lot of people are saying that it’s amaIng and works for them- which, I have no doubt it works. However, a lot of people have said that the method in that book isn’t the best way to work with them, because you’re calling upon angels to er, ‘protect’ or whatever. I read it once. I forgot exactly what it said the angels do. People always say that it’s best that you build a relationship with a demon instead of treating them like… the way they do in that book. I’m just curious to know, what do you think?
One last thing, in Damon Brands books- his way of working with angels, for 11 days straight-
Do you find that necessary? Ive seen other people talk about their workings with angels but I’ve never seen them talk about 11 days of constant contact. I don’t know what methods they used.
Damon never explained WHY it has to start on a Thursday and end on Sunday. I just don’t get it.
If you’ve read them- what do you think of his books? Are there any other books with different methods you suggest that use the same angels?
He did a long time ago back when he was on Facebook. He said that it was part of the traditional approach he worked with and it is believed that if you don’t perform it for 11 days the results of the angels come undone. Meaning they reverse back to normal.
I just finished a ritual for DoM 1 hour ago. it’s amazing I suggest you get that book as well as the others above ^. I’ve gotten INCREDIBLY results with this book. It’s the best way to work with them in my opinion. Only because the results come so fast and so beautifully. But it’s personal preference
Ben woodcroft has a book for the 72 Angels that only need to be done once. Just look up the name on amazon. I personally like doing Damon brands method but Bens works good too
I have the book. Just from what I read I just been refraining from doing any of the rituals. I’m very very glad it has worked for you! I just feel a little disrespectful using angels to “bind” or “restrict” or… I don’t know I forgot what the angels do exactly can you remind me what Gordon said they’re there for? Anyways, I’d rather treat them like I would when simply evoking an angel.
Did you ever do the 11 days of contact and has anything ever worked or came “undone”? I don’t understand why the angels would do that. People work with them differently without 11 days and they’ve said they’ve gotten wonderful results. Is it just the way the ritual is? I wonder what methods those people used.
And thanks for the Ben Woodcraft recommendation. I’ll look it up right now. Have you tried it? What other books or sources have worked for you?
Evoking Eternity is a system for the evocation of any spirit, and it does include the sigils of various spirits, but it is meant to be a workbook for the development of the magician. For example, in the chapter on evoking legions, you will find some magical squares for evoking multitudes of spirits, like those of the House of Kel, or the Anakim. In the chapter on the evocation of multiple spirits, EA provides the sigils of spirits to be evoked together. There are also three pathworkings, one angelic, one demonic, and one elemental, in the chapter on Ascent.
Both those titles are the same book by Konstantinos.
I can’t really speak on Demons of Magick by Gordon Winterfield because I’ve never read it nor worked from it, but some people here on the forum swear by it. I assume, from the descriptions I’ve seen, that it is a sort of watered down Kabbalah/magick of Solomon, like most books from the Gallery of Magick.
I have many of Damon Brand’s books but I have never had any success with them. As far as repeating the rituals for a certain number of days, that is really no different than doing a candle magick ritual for a magically significant number of days. It is necessary for that particular system, but that system isn’t the only way to perform such magick. I would assume that starting on a Thursday and ending on a Sunday is astrologically significant in some way.
So let’s say I wanted to evoke the angels from Damon’s books, would I use the one-of-the-three path workings which is the angelic path working? The thing is Damon has said there are many different sigils for spirits, in these case the angels he mentioned in his book- but that he chose those for the design of that method in his books. Do I still use that same sigil and information of the angel?
Have you ever worked with them in the Solomonic way? I’m assuming you haven’t since you have Koettings books. But if you have or haven’t, why is it not your preferred method or why do you prefer Koettings. Are E. A.’s books the ones you’re using currently and constantly when evoking demons and angels?
Right, yes I was wondering that. I just didn’t come across any other book so far besides his- on working with angels. I like the angels he has in his books and I’d love to work with them. I was literally about to yesterday, on Thursday- but I missed it as I didn’t have time.
I wouldn’t want that to be the only effective method. Is there a book you use that contains many more/the same angels that you or anyone else have had success with? Or the books you’ve recommended me above are the only ones you recommend are a must have.
No. A pathworking is a long term working with specific spirits for spiritual attainment. Each spirit brings a piece of the overall goal. The term “pathworking” is taken from the Tree of Life of the Kabbalah, and is the technique of travelling from one Sepheroth to the next and absorbing the knowledge of each. It has entered common usage to describe any progressive spiritual work. The spirits in the angelic pathworking provided in Evoking Eternity were specifically selected for their utility in the magician’s spiritual Ascent, and cannot be replaced.
However, there is no reason why you could not create your own pathworking with angels of your choosing.
Yes, you could. Or you can search the wilds of the interwebs for another seal for that particular angel, or you could create your own through a method like the Rose Cross.
No, I have never used the magick of Solomon. It is too fear based for my tastes.
I use EA’s method because it is simple and doesn’t require any fancy wands or daggers or any of the other implements used in Golden Dawn ceremonial magick. It is also the one method I have had the most consistent success with. I have used it to evoke demons, angels, and elementals without issue.
Yes, EA’s books are what I mainly work from. The entities in Kingdoms of Flame and the Book of Azazel are my go-to’s for almost everything, but I also use EA’s method to evoke the beings from the Goetia, as well as some of the spirits in Konstantinos’ Summoning Spirits.
Try EA’s technique for opening a spirit seal with one of the seals of an angel from Damon’s book and test it out. If you can make a connection, then you should have no issue with evoking that angel. Sometimes, however, if there are multiple seals for a spirit, one will work better for you than another. I have experienced times where I could not open one seal, but another version opened easily.
In this book it’s all about intention. When you do the circle of power you call on the 4 archangels to create a powerful circle that centers you in your own universe. You are in the center of the universe within that ritual. It’s basically a magick circle but with the protection of the archangels so it makes you shine brighter. The ritual to wield power creates the authority necessary to command both angels and demons. It supplements fasting and cleansing or abstaining from sex. When you use the Shem angel, it makes sure you are heard and ensures the demon does not ignore you, and also gives you the authority in the ritual. Demons turn your words into reality. In a very impressive way. Because of that using the angelic emmasaries ensures that the demon knows your spirit as well. They can also read your spirit but they usually don’t. They work as commanded. Because of that all the “horror” stories with these demons are not the demons fault, but your fault because you got what you asked for. The Ángels ensure that the demon doesn’t bring a bad result because you worded it wrong. By bringing an extra strand of clarity coming from your spirit.
But that’s all they are there for. THEORETICALLY you can force and disrespect demons and still get a result using this method. But that would be because you’re a dick. By using this method you approach the demon as an authority figure and they will do what you ask. But I have never done that and treat them with respect.
Oh alright.
But there’s still a technique in there for any spirit like you said? Just not the path working part of the book.
Would this book teach me how to create a path working with spirits of my choosing?
Thank you so much for the responses. I got a much clearer understanding from my questions and they have been very reassuring.
Yes. The book is designed to teach the student all of the aspects of evocation, from evoking a single entity, to evoking many entities at once.
You’re very welcome. i’m glad the information helped
