Who said you can’t do both? I do 
the majority if my practice for the longest time has revolved around how to use the elements and the planets to manifest the life that will bring me the most joy. Now my practice has expanding more i to learning how to work with multiple entites/deites, ect instead of just raw forces majority of the time.

You keep coming back to it has to be your power or power outside of self when in reailty it is both.
The elements, planet, angels, demons, gods and everything else is BOTH within you AND simultaneously outside of and independent of you. It is both your power and their power at the same time.
It isn’t one or the other, but a this and that scenario.
This is why in the book of azazel, i think azazel goes on about the both the nature of reality. Is to get this point across.
