Banishing not necessary with pathworking?

Downloaded Lucifer and the hidden demons

Book says you don’t need to banish or check your getting who you think you are etc

With the path working method

Is this just for THIS book

Or does that apply everywhere any time you do pathwork?

I don’t think it’s a good idea
Banishing, protection, cleaning it’s a must
Not even our physical world is save, so why would we be careflee while opening gates, sigils, evoking enteties :person_shrugging:

Yeah it confused me

But in the book it states bc you’re going to where they reside and coming back and nothing else can reside there but who you’re pathworking

I mean definitely your imagination could

But beyond that it’s confused me

I think it’s because of the new age trying to find shortcuts and simplify everything
But I don’t know the book, going to look it

Not sure if they just mean their specific path workings given

But don’t they all have one specific path working??

Or are there lots for different entities?

I mean like isn’t Raziel’s always the same symbols along the way whoever creates if you follow say a guided one or in a book etc

No, you do not need to banish with pathworking, though you can if you so desire, and most teachers of the art do recommend it. In his book Instant Magick, for example, the Wiccan author Christopher Penczak recommends acknowledging the cardinal directions and visualising pentagrams around you before beginning any astral work.

The main thing a banishing does, when engaging in astral work like pathworking, is it will settle your mind, and give you a sense of security, so you can focus on your imagination without worry.

I will admit, though, that I do not usually banish when I use Jareth Tempest’s angelic pathworkings.

Yeah that makes sense

Some of the imagery is darker than perhaps I particularly like

But then I haven’t pathworked any demons before so I’m not sure what I expected tbh

Actually this is what triggered me here bc I thought Raziel communicated something to me, didn’t feel like my own imagination at all

But it was so unexpected and I wasn’t sure at all if I had even got Raziel after that

You’re not going anywhere. Pathworking is not astral travel. It is simply using your imagination as a bridge to contact via the archetypal images. I think that statement was made to make it sound more exciting than it really is.

Astral work can be very real.

Yeah it was more that it didn’t quite fit something I would expect to be told by Raziel

Where I had doubts that I did

Sometimes it can take practice to feel the difference between what is conjured by your own mind and what isn’t. The angelic mantras I channelled for the forum, for example, were all received through pathworking, so I understand the doubt completely. I had the mantras tested by other experienced members before I posted them to the public forum for just that reason.

I would not say it is a necessity, but it cannot hurt either. At the very least, it will settle your mind as well as provide practice for other rituals were that is really needed, such as evocation.

Is there any specific way to practice feeling the difference between those 2 things or does it all boil down to trial and error in the end?

You definitely don’t need to banish with pathworking. You’re going to the entities not bringing them to you.

Anyone that thinks Lucifer isn’t going to banish any parasites lingering around that will interfere with the magick hasn’t worked with Lucifer enough.

In general, those books are safe to use, so if you follow the instructions you’ll reach the spirits you want to reach.

NOW, I think it is always good to have a basic spiritual hygiene, just in case.

But yes, visionary magick is, all in all, pretty damn safe. Specially when you go with a guide to protect you. If you have a heavy hitter of any given pantheon, few entities in existence would want to pick a fight.

Not referring to pathworking now but there’s multiple examples on this site of people who thought they had Lucifer turning round and deciding they got something else

How do you reconcile that with your belief?

I’d have to read the individual stories.

Lucifer is probably the easiest entity to contact. I’ve yet to find a method that doesn’t work. The only thing I can think of is if they’re already dedicated to working with a parasitic entity and they don’t wish to actually clear that entity… and the entity somehow blocks the communication since the magicians will isnt to have the entity destroyed.

Banishing will usually only banish stuff you don’t want around. People get oddly attached to entities that just use and abuse them as long as they’re given breadcrumbs of results, so there’s a good chance this type of situation was at play.

Essentially though if something is able to mimic Lucifer they would also be able to mimic Michael when called, which I’ve also never heard of actually happening. It would make banishing nearly impossible if higher angels can be impostered and blocked so easily.

Can you help me understand this a bit?
I cant wrap my head around how a parasitic entity (which seems to be usually considered a low or weak entity) can block the communication with the real Lucifer (which is usually considered to be a very strong entity).

How does someone “new” really know?

Sure someone with experience perhaps it’s obvious for

Someone who doesn’t really know what to expect… has a vague idea… and then is still learning to decipher between imagination, wishful thinking and genuine contact

I mean I recognise both those energies as being the same as the time before and time before etc but that first time… how do you truly actually know you got it right then?
