Ancestor altar and bad events

In one week, we had to replace our floodlight at the front door. We had our refrigerator break. We had our washer clog up.

I have an ancestor altar where I say prayers, after I clean the house, I will make offerings there for blessing the house. Other than that, I never have any other interactions at the altar.

Something tells me that I did something to offend the spirits. Sometimes, the room where the altar is in doubles as an area where partying sometimes takes place, and also our house wasn’t well cleaned and organized for a week or two.

Should I just stop keeping an ancestor altar?

Have you increased any magical or psychic activity lately. Technology and the occult do not tend to get along in my experience and stuff like that happening just means there is too much ambient energy screwing with those devices. So if you have been doing more activities than usual this is to be expected if you don’t make an attempt to shield various electronics.

I think it was neglecting to cover up the altar and it’s in my living room, we were doing drugs in the room the week before I decided to stop, and the house was wrecked for a week. After I cleaned and we got over our partying, that’s when things began to get ugly.

I don’t have the money to facilitate things going wrong for me if I offend spirits…

If you only reach out and commune with them when you need something, allow partying (drug use or not) in the same room, and allow mess near it, it’s no wonder if they got offended.

One of the first things I was told by skilled practitioners is to never have sex or a lot of activity near any altar and spend time with the spirits sharing food and things without always asking for something in return. It builds the relationship. It’s also important to keep a base level of cleanliness near it.

I’d find a small space to move the altar (even a closet can work) and make them a home cooked meal without asking for anything. Eat some and share it with them. Place a glass of water & a small bowl of the food on the altar. Add some flowers, favorite food or liquor, or something they like.

Light a white candle to purify the space. Meditate near it. Make it appealing. It sounds like they’re ignored unless you want something. Don’t give up. View it as a relationship.

Go to Goodwill or thrift store and get a fold out table if you don’t have small space away from partying areas. Make the altar mobile. Hide it from others. Why let others see your sacred space? They can defile it with thoughts & energy. Setup the small table when you want to connect. Move them away from partying. It’s a relationship & they love you. Be nice.

Get some stones or crystals to purify your home. If you do ancestor work, get some Florida water. Make a spray with it & water to cleanse your home and body.

Google for more.

I don’t ask for shit from them. Honestly I just pray for gratitude to them being there. I never ask anything other than leave blessing offerings to them on new moons after I cleanse my entire house.

I think I’ve had enough experience over the years with spiritualism and phenomenon going south to respectfully back out of it and try other arts. It’s too dangerous / tricky / easy to slip out of control. And who knows if it’s not just a lower dimensional spirit?

I wish the best for you. If you want to stop this particular practice I can understand. I stopped my ancestral altar because I didn’t feel them assist when something attacked. They feel silent. Mars and other spirits answer in my limited experience. I repurposed the altar.

I later found an ancestor meditation ritual & did it in a park with strong results. I grounded & asked to meet a good one while meditating on a yoga mat by kind trees. Let me see if I can find it. What came was very strong visually, but she didn’t speak. I also started having weird dreams. Maybe try connecting with them in addition to cleansing and definitely move the altar if there’s partying and commotion near it.

If it’s some kind of bad energy, cleansing never hurts. I hope you get rid of it cleanly. Break out the salt:)
