Can we fire off a chaos magick sigil by burning it instead of getting into an altered state of consciousness? Does it work the same, or does this make no sense? I know spirit sigils work this way, as suggested by Connolly, but can we do the same with chaos magick? Or is an altered state of consciousness a must to fire them off?

Yes, you can. However, a Spare-style sigils uses your subconscious mind for manifestation so an altered state is required for it to be properly absorbed. It’s a simple matter to burn the sigil while in a trance though.

You mean just getting into light trance and then burning it is more efficient compared to just burning it straight right ?
Yes. The altered state in sigil magick is to help facilitate absorption into the subconscious. Fire can be fascinating to the mind so you could simply stare at the burning sigil as the method of trance.

Another option is to draw the sigil in saltpeter and then light it. Saltpeter is a bit like flash powder and will flare up when burned, thus imprinting the sigil into your subconscious. The author Konstantinos has describes using saltpeter on a sigil in one of his books.
