To my understanding this isn’t about giving up the power of the self and submitting to the power of another entity. Is there a difference between this planned working to have us attain (a higher degree of) certain capabilities and you working in which you have the Spirits of the Goetia ‘unlock’ these capabilities?

I joined this group of @Xag_darklight to give working with others towards a shared interest a try. Not to submit to any one or thing.
