My nightly rituals, for months, had begun with the Sphere of Hekas, as delivered by Hekate to Jason Miller and recorded in his book Protection and Reversal Magick. At some point I casually addressed Hekate with a request for a shorter form because I wanted to move on with other magick in my limited time. (I have a tendency to lose myself in the magick and end up taking way too long.)
A couple nights later, I found myself breathing life into the sphere, acknowledging it as an extension of my being, and then teaching it its role and how to fulfill its purpose, as I would do with a servitor. It’s not something I intended to do, but there it was. I introduced it to the four directional guardians and Cohzier, told it who was trusted to come and go, and how to source power. I invited many spirit-side friends and family to enjoy the refuge, and a few days later, made it Earth-like inside, for the comfort of my guests.
When I was half-way through the creation, I realized the source was Hekate, from the request that I had forgotten about. Immediately after, I gave her a LOT of praise and offerings as a thank you. Was that a UPG? Whatever it’s called, it was my first. F’kn cool as hell.
I invite any and all feedback.

I can only speak from a Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn style of magic, similar to Crowley’s system (minus a bunch of drama).
It seems to me what you’re describing is creation of an Astral Temple, with a very fluid like structure to it, which points to me to be of water (or Briah).
I cannot speak more than I already have, as I am currently in the earth grade moving toward the air grade. But, what it does strike me as is a Psi Ball that you would develop in the Earth grade.

Thank you for your feedback.
I have John Michael Greer’s Celtic Golden Dawn, but shamefully I have not yet read it, so I currently have little understanding of what you said regarding that discipline. I apologize.
The astral temple, yes, I was thinking it was kinda like that, too. That was more of an afterthought, to make it feel more like home, since I made it somewhat permanent and I invited others into it.
The Sphere of Hekas is a banishing that creates a sphere of protection, similar to the LBRP. The Sphere very well could be a kind of psy ball that one forms around one’s self, though from a different source and for a different purpose. The psy ball is formed from the solar plexus with one’s own energy, and the Sphere is formed at the heart, using the energy from two shafts of light – a white beam from above (the descent of the dove), and a red beam from below (the ascent of the serpent). The Sphere is then consecrated in the name of Hekate and fortified with guardians at the four directions.
As an aside, the psy ball also reminds me of the astral work in the 2001 book The Llewen Practical Guide to Astral Projection, by Denning & Phillips. In there, one practices using astral substance by creating a ball and tasking it to go somewhere, absorb impressions, and return for the practitioner to absorb it and receive the information that it collected.
Anyway, the Sphere, being connected to me as a living extension of my being, becomes a semi-permanent banishing, and remains flexible to accommodate changing circumstances.

Interesting, I look forward to reading more on this topic. Thank you for writing this, I’ve been drawn to Hecate and Isis, both of which seem to be lunar goddesses, from what I’ve read on them.
