Zagan - The Transubstantiation Demon

From the Lesser Key of Solomon:

ZAGAN. - The Sixty-first Spirit is Zagan.
He is a Great King and President, appearing at
first in the Form of a Bull with Gryphon’s
Wings; but after a while he putteth on Human
Shape. He maketh Men Witty. He can turn
Wine into Water, and Blood into Wine, also
Water into Wine. He can turn all Metals into
Coin of the Dominion that Metal is of. He can
even make Fools wise. He governeth 33 Legions
of Spirits, and his Seal is this, etc.

Has anyone worked with Zagan and watched him perform these abilities?

Well they’re not literal. It’s metaphorical. He takes situations and flips them around.

I thought it was more a statement of him having the ability to change one’s perceptions and/or create strong illusions.

It’s one of his abilities but not the ability.

I think S.Connolly has related info, and her rite in one of the Anthology of Sorcery copies, I don’t quite remember which of the 3, has it outlined for the mage to perform. Based on what I read in forums and heard from fellow practitioners, Zagan has the ability to reverse a situation to the exact opposite of what it currently is, or at least something that has a similar effect in the physical world.

Sounds a lot like the Magician card in the Tarot - especially the bit about “making Fools wise” -

I once performed a ritual intended to contact King Zagan. The only notable idea that came out of said ritual was the word “Proportions” and the impulse to meditate on the sigil as a key…
