In the foundational mythos of Rome, she was the wolf that suckled and raised the twins Romulus and Remus. Romulus becomes the founder and first king of Rome. She is not usually referred to as “wolf mother” though, but simply as the She-Wolf.

The Gokturks had a similar myth of a female wolf nursing a wounded young boy back to health. The boy impregnates the wolf who then gives birth to 10 half-wolf half-human children, one of which becomes the leader of the nomadic tribes.

It’s mythology. There is a lot of that kind of stuff in myths. Bestiality, incest, rape, abuse, patricide, m*urder, they all appear in Greek and Norse mythology, as just two examples. I mean, Loki mated with a stallion, and gave birth to an eight-legged horse called Sleipnir which became Odin’s ride. :man_shrugging:

Hecate is often referred to as She-wolf, or Lykaina, in PGM she’s always adressed as " Your ankle is wolf-shaped*"
In Norse mythology, I think Gullveig is the wolf mother who mothered Fenrir.
I see so much similarities between Hekate and Gullveig, both Goddessess are associated with three dogs or three wolves, being black mothers goddessess, associated with witchcraft and black magick.

Fenrir’s mother is the giantess Angrboda. Gullveig is a witch, and, from what I could gather, isn’t associated with wolves.
