Which demon/deity or spirit?

Hello everyone

I am Darius, new to the message board. I just had a quick question. I have noticed for sometime that there are indeed a plethora of demons, deities or spirits to work with. I just wanted to know what peoples experiences have been with regards to how one decides on which demon(s) or Gods, goddesses etc; to work with? How does one come to such a conclusion? What would such meditation or intuition work involve?
