Website add-on for privacy

I am sure many of you, like me deal with trying to hide your interest in the occult, I thought it would be fitting for BALG to incorporate a hide button of sorts.

Back in the day there were a few escort service websites that had this feature. It was basically a clickable button that said “Hide me!” on the side of the webpage that when clicked immediately took you to an inoccuous website that had nothing to do with escorts. So if someone comes up behind you you have a quick escape from the webpage without having to exit the browser.

Due to the fact most of us have to hide our use of the BALG forum this type of button would be a fantastic addition to the site.

I think its a great suggestion and I hope it gets taken into consideration.

Bring the idea to the Discourse developers. BALG is limited by the features available on the software.

I remember back when few people had home computers, many computer games had a “boss key” designed to protect people playing games at work. If your boss wonders over, you hit the key and switches the screen to some generic tables and graphs of some sort

In Windows, Alt-F4 will close a window, Alt-Tab will cycle between open apps as you press tab, Windows key-M will minimize all windows and Windows key-control-right arrow key will move to the next virtual desktop, essentially a parallel travel to a different screen. This would allow you to have an innocuous workspace the next parallel desktop over. You could then use Sharpkeys, a free keyboard remapper, to set the hot key of choice to a key you don’t use (such as left alt, capslock, ~) so you have an instant key to change to a desktop you’ve set up to look normal. Windows key-control-left arrow key will let you return once the interruption is ceased.

So you don’t need such a button on the website as the option exists within your very machine now! From a simple minimize to an entire secondary screen, either can be done in a keystroke! Enjoy your freedom to study the occult in privacy! Remember to use a private browser session if secrecy is important to you.

Do you access BALG on your cellphone? There’s a privacy app I use which is a perfectly functional calculator, until you type in a sequence of keys you’ve arranged, which then opens the secret folder. As well as hiding all your private files inside it, there’s a built-in browser where you can bookmark BALG. And as soon as you’re disturbed, flip the phone upside down momentarily and it jumps to a different app of your choice, like FB or a game or something. It’s a free App, and something trivial ($5 or so) for the advert-free version.

Hope this helps!
