I’m interested in the many ways everyone shows respect towards entities. (Spirits, gods, and etc.) I mean, I know ways to show respect towards them. I just would like to know the many ways everyone else does. This may also be useful for newbies, so they’ll get ideas on how to show respect towards entities.
Some ways I show respect is by trying to intently listen to some of the things they have to say, and thanking them for given advice and/or help.
Now what are some ways you show your respect towards entities?
By my thoughts, they are always respectful, and i always say “Hail” in my mind when i see clear signals of their presence everywhere, like in the streets, television, movies, conversations, etc!^^
I offer stuffs to them. Entities in the higher realms need offering to either sustain themselves or use that offering a source to influence our realm. Simplest form of offering is libation of water and incense. Burning sweet food or simple bread is best amongst burnt offetings. In my tradition non sattvic food is forbidden to offer as it may anger the spirit/diety or may send wrong signal. (unless you are offering for a baneful purpose).
Respect? Same way I respect people. There are no differences between my treatment of them or people. I always treat things the way I wish to be treated.
Treat them like friends and honored guests. I’d usually offer my friend a beer and something to eat, so I offer the same to my spirit friends. I’ll also say thanks for coming, thanks for your help. I’ll usually offer them tangible energy they can really use through burnt offerings, as the fire transmutes solids into the ether for them to absorb and get stronger. They likes that part.
I address them in a polite and respectful tone, my petitions are well written, to the point and line up with my intentions. I give them things that I know they like for offerings like red wine, tea, coffee, fruit, chocolate and sometimes a nice steak
Agree 100%. A couple of weeks ago, I called upon Duke Sallos, not because I wanted something, but because I wanted to have a drink with him and tell him that even though I had not worked with him for a while, I still am grateful for all of his help.
His response was I know, I’m patient and ready when you call.
Treating spirits in this fashion goes such a long way.
I’m also reminded of when I bought a “folk” book of magic, with a smiling devil on the cover, 25 years ago. I browsed it, seeing that a few pages were about Lucifer, who I soon came to admire, and also an evocation of him.
I was waiting to be alone in hotel, in order to summon Lucifer (expecting to see him as the aforesaid devil) and have together some chipsticks brought from reastaurant
