Where would I find the best resources to start learning about voodoo what are some mistakes / things you wish you would of done / not done when you were starting with this. What is some good advice? Thank you all.

First, you should probably go introduce yourself in the new magician help and introductions section. Its a rule on this forum.
I hear E.A Koetting the Spider and the Green butterfly is good. If you want to go deeper you’d probably be best of going to Louisiana or Haiti, as I understand it the voodoo current is pretty big on initiation.
