“Thoughts and Prayers”

Another shooting, another round of “thoughts and prayers,” offered almost exclusively by purported followers of a bland, white-bread Protestantism. Have you ever wanted to just shout: “There’s nothing wrong with thoughts and prayers - it’s just that YOUR thoughts and prayers are lame and powerless!”

And in many cases they make things worse. A whole room full of people visualizing an injured person and how badly they feel about it can be a disaster.

Maybe God would answer their prayers if they’d stop breaking the Ninth Commandment.

And maybe if the school system wasn’t designed to cripple individuality and creativity, crushing boys whilst turning girls into sub-par male work units, and then the media wasn’t full 24/7 of violence as entertainment, where your evening viewing will be murder delivered as an exciting and fruitful part of human life…

Remove religion as an establishment; dumb down the size of governance to individual cities and towns, making individualized rules possible for everyone; ADD LOVE, and maybe it will get better.

Begging won’t do you any good
Get up and fucking do something

It seems the weak give thoughts and prayers because they lack the strength to give anything else. We also live in a society where any action, no matter how small, is thought that it should be cause for celebration. So you are actively doing something, and being recognized, without ever doing anything of substance. A lazy person’s contribution? Do they really even care or are they seeking the recognition they receive from giving the appearance of caring.
