Is it advisable to refrain from THC use when evoking demonic/goetic spirits? How about l-theanine or alchohol or mugwort or blue lotus (what about salvia divinorum?) I plan to perform my first ceremonial magic ritual and should i try them to see if they work for me? I read in some grimoire (I don’t think it was written by Koetting) that ceremonial rites rely on ritual structure/focus rather than trance states.
if is your first is advice from me to restrain from it i try to use thc in a past ritual and say mid ritual i had the crave for munchies you want a clear mind if you realy want to do somenthing dont sleep for 48 h before ritual is enough to make the veil thiner my record for one itual was 4 days of no sleep and for sure you enter trance
I’d refrain from any substitutes at the beginning. Gain some experience, get to know how a successful ritual and a failed ritual feel like. After that you’ll have a better basic understanding to experiment with
As for sleep deprivation. I won’t recommend going anywhere beyond 48 hours on purpose. Even after skipping 1 night, you’re impaired enough to make it not a great idea to be driving and such. Longer periods of and/ or constistent sleep deprivation can also have some nasty longterm health risks.
This is incorrect. All magick depends on some form of trance. In ceremonial magick, the state of magical consciousness is usually obtained through ascetic purification practices like fasting, sexual abstinence, and prayer.
Sustained focus/concentration actually produces a trance like state of consciousness. These days people call it the “flow state.”
It depends on how the drug affects your brain chemistry. For some, it can put them into a state of hyperfocus which can be helpful for magick, but for others it can cause scattered thoughts and fuzzy thinking. When it comes to evoking spirits, any spirit not just demons, you want to have your wits about you so you can maintain control over the ritual. However, with practice, you can eventually learn how to maintain control while under the influence.
I should mention also that some spirits may not like it if you are under the influence when you evoke them. I got chastised by both an angel and demon for evoking them while I was intoxicated. The particular demon king I was speaking with called it disrespectful.
