In a similar fashion to how a parent may call their son “my son”, what would an ancestor call their descendant? My son/daughter? My child?

Wouldn’t heir be for someone who is to inherit something?
I guess it would depend on the nature of your book.
I’m just imagining if he’s meeting a ancestor from 10 generations ago he’s got to be getting something
