Why do magicians prefer demons to excicute their enemies with curses instead of sympathetic or low magick? Is it because it’s less dangerous?
I don’t think they do, particularly, it’s just a preference that some have. It probably depends on what kind of magick you’re used to.
Personally the Release of Hatred, the Cow’s Tongue or the Chicken feet curses by E.A would be my go-tos, and those are all low magick.
The Cow’s Tongue curse is spectacular. This curse uses the word “demons” but not for any specific entities, just “the powers of darkness” as an overarching concept. Personally I leave that word out and it’s the same curse with the “Powers of darkness” being directly summoned by me. So I guess I’m the “demon” here.

That’s kinda like LaVey’s standard ritual in the satanic bible. He say “I command the forces of darkness to bestow their infernal power on me” during invocation to Satan. It must be the magician’s own powers that is released as I feel a lot vibrations in my body when I do it.

Why be chained by one method if you can use both, here I Brazil, for example, we use sympathetic magick along with an entity to help boost the ritual and to the magick “catch off” the target more easily. Most here uses the Exus and Pombagiras for love and curses, and others use Orishas to protection, abundance, beauty. But you can use any deity of your preference, even the goectics can teach you sympathetic magick.

Do you have an example how it’s done?
I wouldn’t say that it’s a preference. I use both forms. For me it depends on the situation.
If I just want to throw a curse with no particular emphasis on anything I use low Magick. If I want to methodically dismantle someone’s life, I use angels. If I want to cause untold amounts of destruction,I use demons. If I’m feeling like I want to do all the above I use The Furies.
Magick is largely situational and I would think that most sorcerers use the method that feels right at the time.

In Quimbanda sometimes the Tata is possessed by the Exu or Pombagira when making the sympathetic magick. Other cases is just the energy of the deity that is invoked or evoked.
