Sure, if it gets you in the mood and invokes a sense of the spirit you are trying to call.
Poetry has been used for evoking the gods for millennia, and what are song lyrics but a modern form of poetry?

Some are, some aren’t. I guess it all depends on your individual definition of “poetry.”
The Orphic Hymns, used for evoking the Olympic spirits, are very poetic.
The guttural chanting of EA’s 4 conjurations…not so much.
However, both examples accomplish the same thing.
