Something I thought about regarding the nature of demons

Since I don’t have much privacy or resources, I’ve had to resort to many pathworking books. In them, the authors always assures that offerings are not needed and that the demon feeds on the gratitude you feel when the work is done, that the demon is “fulfiling his destiny by helping us” or that they are simply happy to be able to use their skills. It seemed strange to me that such powerful beings would want to use their powers in our favor simply because they have them, until recently, reflecting on Lucifer, his abilities and the meaning of his name, the following occurred to me: His name means “light bearer” and, basically, that’s what he does. He can bring light into your life in many different ways. This leads me to believe that if they help us, it’s because they literally exist to fulfill the needs they’re associated with. They surely enjoy the offerings and the respect people give them, but ultimately, they exist to fulfill a specific mission, and that is to help those in need with problems they can solve. I also know that many demons are actually demonized pagan gods, but this doesn’t contradict my theory since, in the end, they still receive attention and, in some cases, worship, just in a different form. What do you think?

Yes, exactly, they want to help. Letting them help is the reward.

I would take a step back from the demonized “Pagan Gods.” While it has alot of truth, not everything would fit under the category of Pagan.

Ontop of that I don’t believe “wanting to help is the reward.” Nothing is “Free.” Its more realistic to assume that by helping you its helping fulfill some function in the grander scheme of things that you are unable to see. Think of it in a more grounded realistic context.

If you had a handful of God’s that ran an entire civilization.. say the United States/Europe/UK.. and people were too busy looking for “Free things” like “help” or whatever, do you think said Western Civilization would last very long? Not at all; it takes alot of different people contributing, even to Gods or anything up in the heirarchy to make Western Civilization run and continue to thrive.

A God, a demon, a spirit, a ghost, etc exists in this world held togethor by a “finite” source of energy which is valuable. So you must question why would it actually want to do anything for free if its existance depends on energy and a number of other things. This means a proper exchange of value is called for; the more you give in the proper value, the more you receive from said forces.

I don’t know their motives, but perhaps it’s for the same reason many humans enter helping and caring careers, such as nursing. They just want to do it.

I personally believe that them interacting with the physical world is one of their motivations, but that’s just my UPG.

I know, that´s why I said “many” instead of “all”

Well, as I said in my post, many authors assure that they are fulfilling their destiny by helping and I´ve even read that they feed on the gratitude that we emit when a request we make is granted. Maybe they help because that is the reason for their existence and and their source of food?

I oncre read the book “The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception", which supports the idea that physical life is a kind of school that prepares us for a future existence. With that in mind, it may make sense that they help us so that we can reach our full potential.

Although they help us, I think it’s pretty clear to all of us that they won’t do everything for us and that, even though we have their support, they want us to work hard to achieve our goals.
