I need to use the black moon for a project I’m working on and I haven’t been able to find any information on anything regarding any particular lunar phase or cycle that works best with it. As I understand it the black moon is separate from the “dark side of the moon”, which is fine and good, but I’m wondering if the black moon is strongest during any particular lunar phase. The best I can come up with is the New Moon but that’s still just the dark side of the moon when it faces earth. Or perhaps it doesn’t need any phase to work strongly such as the black sun doesn’t. Any info on the matter would be very helpful to me.

These are some times when it could be considered a black moon (from the article):
- A second new moon in a single month
- Third New moon in a season of four new moons.
By this definition the next black moon won’t happen until April 30th 2022.
If you need to use a black moon for a project you could just use a new moon since that might capture the necessary symbol? Otherwise you might be waiting for a long time.
