Should You Burn A Book of Shadows

Many people create their own castings and document the results from simple rhyming spells to high ceremonial magic and retain each casting for reference. Others seem to gather information from known sources, create a sigil or create a casting and than after the ritual destroy the written castings and sigils.

Should you keep each casting and save it in a journal of spells or book of shadows and update or improve each spell to fit new castings and keep a record of your work?

Or should you destroy the casting by fire after the ritual and then with each new ritual simply create a new work or casting?

Destroying the written casting does finalize the ritual in one sence, you have destroyed your written work and reference to it for future castings in particular if it is a success. I would definately keep my written work intact for other future rituals.
