You need to take your subconscious focus off your body in order to meditate properly.
Until you do, you are simply sitting and breathing quietly, meanwhile gaining no benefit.
Your subconscious focus Is not something mysterious. It is the awareness in the back of your mind that you are still focusing on your body, instead of the actual objective.
Yes energy goes where attention goes, but that attention is comprised of Conscious attention (“I want to make a chi ball. Let me focus on my hands”), and subconscious attention (“I’m focused on my body, not ny hands”).
