…people on this forum are starting to get on my nerves. not because i hate them or anything, but lately whenever i make a thread or post about my experiences with a spirit they ask the same dumb question.
“what was the ritual you used to get in contact with …?”
the answer is always the same. BASIC EVOCATION. i stare at a sigil in TGS until it flashes and moves and then i call forth the entity. THATS IT. nothing fancy, no crystal balls, no candles, hell most of the time i don’t even use my circle.
sometimes i use one of E.A.'s 4 incantations, but never is there some entity specific “ritual” for getting a certain spirit to do a certain thing.
i allow the spirits to manifest where and how they want, and i have a pleasant conversation with them and discuss my current wants and needs with them.
evocation is NOT complicated, its really simple.
now i am at the point where i honestly do not need a sigil or an idol to get spirits to manifest. so i mostly just use their names alone.
please please please stop asking me this question, i find it silly and sad that people think that way, just remember that i WILL think less of you if you do ask.
Have you taken a second to think that some of the people asking you this question might be beginners or new to magick and are just asking you so they can learn more?
Remember not everyone knows the same things as you do.
yes i have, but the information is out there. contacting spirits and the information needed to develop the skills to do so is littered allover this forum.
I feel ya. Spend enough time on any forum, and after time, you see the same q’s getting asked over and over. Sometimes while there’s an active thread going about what they want to know. Usually, as Ozraga said, it’s absolute beginners. Some of them will use the search function, most won’t. I figure I can let it bug the shit out of me, like I used to, or just accept the fact that it’s going to happen, and resign myself to the fact that I’m going to be answering the same question a lot. I’ve never left a forum over it, unless it was coupled with excessive drama, or a couple of insufferable douches who I just couldn’t tolerate any more. Especially when they post in your threads, lol.
Pro-tip - keep a boilerplate PM that you can just copy-paste, for example, I send this to all new members once they’ve done an intro:
Welcome to the forum! There's a lot of great information available on this site, and you might find these links useful to begin with:
• the Member Resources thread, which has a ton of links to newsletter tutorials on things like opening sigils, attaining Theta-Gamma Synch (TGS), and also practical advice on using the forum, posting images and YouTube videos, etc.;
• and also a lot of good topics in the archives, which can be found using the Search function.
There’s a sign-off para that I usually type by hand, maybe something relevant to what they said in their intro or just “Look forward to seeing you round on the forums” or whatever time etc dictate.
This saves YOU time, and, if you keep your PM updated to cover the most common things, it means every single person’s getting a reply kind of honed and perfected from other people’s questions.
And, y’know, takes seconds, you can always sign off saying something like “Aside from these tips, I’m afraid I’m too busy to enter into correspondence, but please do post on the New Magicians section where you’ll be able to get a wider range of support and advice.” Or something like that - polite, but clear.
People are often desperate, and what looks like same-old, same-old to one of us is still a really pressing and probably scarily new thing to them, people have no way of knowing they’re the 35th person to ask you that in a week or whatever.
You should just have a section full of nothing but Guide Threads. Then you can just simply post the link to that section. Some people can be really really dense. There was this person in everyday life that kept repeating themselves, so I kept repeating my Statement until it sank in =) Yes some people can be really dense… but being polite while doing it helps out alot so your not misperceived as an asshole.
There is - the Member Resources thread has guides to all - ALL! - the basics, the evocation seminar E.A. did, how to attain TGS, how to upload images and video, all that is in there.
But people have “sticky thread blindness” when they read a forum, they tend to skip over pinned topics like we tune out banner ads - I must admit, I do it myself on other forums sometimes, especially because stickied topics are often not updated regularly, so they tend to have a “last post” date that makes them look dusty and out of date.
Take the rules thread - it says, “Do an intro” yet it’s almost more common than not for people to simply skim over than, and post - for which, I send a polite stock PM asking for an intro, or (if it seems like they’re in a bit of a tizzy and might not see the notification) I post a reminder in their thread.
That gets it cleared up, no muss, no fuss, and no bad feelings either way.
@anon85346918 Once the sigil starts flashing simply speak what you wish to happen. With reverence and all due respect of course. Then, just have faith and wait for the results to come.
@anon85346918 A proper full evocation is trickier business. You will have to ask someone else about that. The essential idea is that you need to enter the Rapture state though which is far beyond just the sigil flashing of the first stage of the TGS.
@anon85346918 You are meant to enter the Rapture state for that. There are other ways of course. Continued work with a single entity over an extended period of time is meant to be able to create a manifestation in visible form outside of the TGS. Have you read this yet?
all3n711, your problem isn’t with the technique. its belief in what you are trying to see that seems to be your main stumbling block. before you even try to evoke something, believe without a doubt that the spirit is going to appear.
and when it comes you have to recognize the signs that its there. does the air in front of you flash without reason? is there a large shadow that wasn’t there before? did it get strangely cold or warm in the the room?
do you hear a voice? it might sound like your own mental voice at first, but stick with it, if you are not actively thinking about something it’ll be easier to recognize.
you MAY have already evoked the spirit and not know it, look around your temple with your strongest astral vision, if you didn’t banish them they might still be hanging around.
