Knight Musings

You could try a dream recall spell or use a trigger word that links to her to connect your subconscious to your consciousness when you awake, it takes practise but once you get the hang of it you can recall dreams from years ago just from a few words.

I’ve decided to work through the OAA material along with the current Enochian work from Success Magick. I think each will complement the other well.

At the same time, I’m going to experiment with the books of Pam Grout, particularly her interpretation of The Course in Miracles for the next 100 days. I’m interested in seeing if it will add anything to my magical practice, as I feel I may have thrown the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak, when I decided not to formulate a personal theological and philosophical framework for my practice when first jumping into EA’s system a decade or so ago.

I’ve been trying to scry the little dragon companions that @Empress_Arianna has seen around my circle, but so far I have not been able to, though I have seen some flashes.

Day 1 of 100.

Performed Ritual 8 of Success Magick. I’m beginning to enjoy these quick daily rituals, and look forward to them every day. I have been doing them in the afternoon, but may move them to the morning. They would be a good way to start the day.

I had a very positive reading from a forum member on my angelic work so I’m looking towards full immersion in the current.

Lesson 1 of The Course In Miracles Experiment: Nothing I see means anything.

This lesson is easily understood intellectually, but more difficult to grasp emotionally, because humans have a tendency to become attached to what we see around us. However, as Shakespeare wrote 400 years ago, nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so. The world just is. We are what gives it meaning.

Note: During this experiment, I am also starting a fast from all news and pornography.

Gasp, what an awful thing to do…

Actually I cut news out about a year ago… and haven’t regretted it a moment. Someone always catches me up if its relative to me.

Exactly, there’s such toxicity and negativity in news that honestly it doesn’t worth it. You might at times stand out like you just landed on planet earth, but who cares. If its something important it will reach to you anyways.

Day 2:

Finished off Ritual 8 of Success Magick, I’m not feeling a lot from these rituals but I know they are setting things in motion, and as I wrote previously, they’re kind of fun to do.

Lesson 2 of CIM: I have given meaning to everything I see

This lesson goes along with the first one. Nothing has intrinsic meaning in and of itself, only the meaning we, as observers, have given to it. The objects we own are just objects. The events that happen to us are just events. We decide their meaning, whether good or bad, important or unimportant.

Day 3:

Started Ritual 9 of Success Magick. I decided to add an Enochian Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram before doing the ritual from the book. There was some definitely some buzz to my environment afterwards.

What I find most interesting is that Ritual 9 is Boundary, and all about pushing through habitual modes of thought and action. That is the purpose of the Course in Miracles as well.

Lesson 3 of CIM: I do not understand anything I see

When you get down to it, we really don’t understand the things we see in our world. Take a tree, for example. If a blind man were to ask you to tell him what a tree is, how would you answer? You can’t just point and say, ā€œThat’s a tree.ā€ Sure, you can try to describe what it looks like, the feel of the bark, the leaves on its branches, but you cannot really convey its ā€œtreenessā€ because we don’t know what actually makes a tree a tree. Or a flower a flower. Or anything that we label. We can take it apart, learn its anatomy, follow its life cycle, but we really don’t have a clue about what it really is. How does one explain the ā€œducknessā€ of a duck, or the ā€œrosenessā€ of a rose? It’s very possible that we don’t truly understand anything about our world.

There was a television series back in the early 2000’s called Joan of Arcadia, about a girl who talks with God, who shows up in the form of a cute boy next door (of course). I don’t recall ever watching the series, but I did see a scene from it somewhere that has always stayed with me. Joan is testing the cute boy who claims to be God, and asks him to perform a miracle. "Okay, "the boy says, ā€œHow about that one?ā€ and he points at a tree. Joan looks at him dumbfounded and replies sarcastically, ā€œThat’s a tree.ā€ The boy then goes, ā€œLet’s see you make one.ā€

I performed the Enochian Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram before bed. It is essentially the same ritual as the Lesser Invoking I did earlier in the day, only with banishing pentagrams rather than invoking ones.

Day 4:

Started the day with the Enochian Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram, followed by Ritual 9 of Success Magick.

I can definitely feel something shift in my space when I do the LIRP. I have not noticed any adverse affect on either myself or my roommate from letting the forces flow unhindered all day, but it has only been two days since I started incorporating this ritual into my work so time will tell.

Lesson 4 of CIM: My thoughts don’t mean anything.

We all have a running commentary going on in our brain, and sometimes we get so wrapped up in it that we forgot that we are not our thoughts. As magicians, sorcerers, and witches, we learn to take control of our thoughts, and to quiet down the incessant chattering that accompanies us everywhere, so that we can bring the power of our focus to bear on our singular aim during ritual. Just sitting, and passively observing our inner dialogue shows that our thoughts are not who we really are, and they really don’t mean anything.

Capped the day with the Enochian Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.

Day 5:

I decided to try using my Universal Circle with the Enochian rituals, so i laid it out and then performed the Enochian Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram. Standing in the circle helped to give me a better sense of the space is relation to the pentagrams and my place in the middle. I sat down for the ritual from Success Magick though.

Lesson 5 of CIM: I am never upset for the reason I think.

There is a lot of negativity in the world right now. We have divisive politics, with those on both sides of the ideological divide blaming the other for the problems they are facing. We have ignorance and intolerance, and other ills of humanity crawling out of the shadows, and a global pandemic that is changing our way of life, but when you take a hard look at it all, you see that these are all just things that are happening. They have no real meaning, except that which we attach to the emotional reactions we feel in response to them. As the sages say, nothing external can make you upset unless you choose to let it have control over your internal world. You are never upset for the reasons you think, and it is always 100% you, not what is happening externally to you.

Now, this doesn’t mean that we can’t get angry or upset at what we see around us. Anger can be a powerful motivator to take action and find solutions. However, a lot of the time, we get angry at things we have no control over, like the driving of someone else, and we rant and rave impotently, expending our energy and disturbing our inner world for no reason. It accomplishes nothing but raising our blood pressure and cortisol levels. Our reactions are completely under our control, and we can choose how to respond to the events and situations we encounter. We are never upset for the reasons we think.

Finished the day with the Enochian Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram around midnight.

It can take a long time for someone to get to this point of understanding and once there it can seem quite lonely at first…but not for long

Day 6:

Set out my Universal Circle and performed the Enochian Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram followed by Ritual 9 of Success Magick. I performed everything while standing which was…different. I usually do my rituals seated in a chair so it felt a bit awkward.

Lesson 6 of CIM: I am upset because I see something that isn’t there.

What we see is only an illusion, projected by our own preconceived ideas and beliefs. This lesson is a bit hard to digest because it is literally telling us that what we consider to be evil or bad in the external world doesn’t really exist, which is very difficult to believe when one considers things like the Holocaust, serial killers, child abusers, genocide, and the other atrocities that are currently happening. What it is really telling us, though, is that we can change the outside, not by fighting it with teeth and claws, but by changing our internal perceptions of it.

Performed the Enochian Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram around 1 AM. Had a strange humming in my ears afterwards that lasted for an hour or two. It felt like my ears were partially plugged, making the volume from my computer seem quite low, though it was not.

Day 7:

Stood in my UC and performed the Enochian Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram, followed by Ritual 9 of Success Magick. I changed the elements in the LIRP from the Golden Dawn arrangement to Damon Brand’s, placing Fire in the East instead of South. I think I prefer it that way. I can definitely feel a difference.

I am finding myself abnormally tired an hour or so after the LIRP, and I am left wondering if it is because of the ritual. I will have to experiment, and then switch to the Lesser Banishing to see if it has the same effect.

Lesson 7 of CIM: I see only the past.

We humans tend to place our focus on that which doesn’t actually exist. Neither the past nor the future have any true reality. There is only the present moment. Everything is possible in this moment, and only in this moment. The past is memory, and the future is projection. There is only the Now. This seems so easy to understand intellectually, but it is much harder in practice because of the way our minds are conditioned to only see our illusions of the past, instead of what is right now in this moment. I know it is for me. I find myself stuck constantly ruminating over what was or will be, rather than what is.

Performed the Enochian Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram around midnight, before bed.

Day 8:

I forgot to update this last night.

Did the usual Enochian LIRP standing in my UC before doing Ritual 9 from Success Magick. Nothing else to report.

Lesson 8 of CIM: My mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

The thoughts running through my head today, are the same thoughts that have run through my head for most of my life. All the assumptions, opinions, and judgements I have made cycle through on an endless loop of what has come before. I am not my thoughts, but some days, it is hard to tell.

Performed the Enochian LBRP around 1 AM.

Day 9:

Slept really late and didn’t wake up until quarter after 2 in the afternoon. Performed my Enochian LIRP and Ritual 9 of Success Magick at 3 PM. I didn’t use the UC this time, mainly because I was still a little groggy from my sleep and forgot.

Lesson 9 of CIM: I see nothing as it is now.

When we look at something, we don’t really see it as it is in the moment. What we see is really our interpretation of the thing, based on the beliefs, thoughts, and memories of past experiences that are held in our consciousness. In other words, what we see is really what was then, not what is now. This is basically a corollary of the lesson before. If our thoughts are preoccupied with the past, as Lesson 8 says, then how can we possibly see the truth of what is, in this moment?

Performed the Enochian LBRP at 230 AM.

Day 10:

Found myself awake for most of the night and so finally fell asleep at 10 AM. Woke up groggy at 215 PM. I always feel like crap after sleeping during the day, so it took awhile for my brain to stutter to a start.

I performed the Enochian LIRP and moved on to Ritual 10 of Success Magick at 4 PM.

Lesson 10 of CIM: My thoughts do not mean anything.

As magicians, we learn to control our thoughts, to focus our will upon what we want to accomplish, but outside of ritual, we still find ourselves at the mercy of the unending flotsam floating through our consciousness because we cannot help but identity ourselves with them. However, our thoughts don’t mean anything. They are only the noise we use to filter our experiences of the world. They hold no value at all, but are simply the running commentary of our perceptions. It is a never ending battle to see the truth beyond our thoughts.

I fell into a dead sleep around 9 or 10 PM and so did not do the Lesser Banishing.

I forgot to update this last night.

Did my LIRP and Ritual 10 of Success Magick at about 230 PM. Had a little bit of a headache afterwards.

Lesson 11 of CIM: My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world

This sounds pretty bleak, but it is simply pointing out that we are investing our power as creative beings or, in the vernacular of the forum, as gods, in the idea that life is merely what happens to us, rather than something we have a hand in creating for ourselves. As magicians, sorcerers and witches, we should be more aware of the fact that our thoughts build our reality than most.

I was feeling very lazy and did not do the LBRP before bed.

Edit to add: I forgot to add that I tried out the Enochian energy exercise that @anon41658706 developed and was kind enough to post in another thread. It had a definite energetic effect. I did it around 8 PM, roughly 6 hours or so after the LIRP, which uses the same words of power.
