I've been doing divination with cards but

It seems I’ve hit a point in my card readings where I don’t feel like I’m improving and I don’t feel the flow of intuition as much as I did. I’ve been doing it for a year and a couple months. It’s like re-reading a book over and over. With my cards I can pull any card and tell you what it means, but I’m just not satisfied. Becuase of this I’ve started learning tarot. That’s going fine and all but it’s really bugging me that I’m going no where with my playing cards. Did I just hit maximum potential within my cards? Any experienced card readers want to give me some advise?

Mmm, I can’t say I’ve had the exact same experience, but sounds like you have hit a ceiling somewhat. Like you’re just ad-libbing readings by selecting from a potentially large, but still ultimately restricted, pool of meanings and associations.

Tarot might be good, or if you haven’t done so already, maybe scrying, scanning, or remote viewing would be another challenge?

Let’s see what tarot does. After that I’ll check the others out.

Yup. That’s exactly right.

I think what I’m going to do is completely put away my playing cards and rely on only tarot. This is difficult for me becuase my playing cards are my divination life source. So one I learn to use tarot reliably, I will come back to my cards and combine the two for a mixed card readings. Maybe I’ll even pick up a deck of Oracle cards.

Your cartomancy readings are on point, from what I’ve seen, so it’ll be interesting to see how you go once you pick up Tarot. From there, you can decide where to branch out.

Actually I needed to hear this. Thankyou.

It’s hard to understand what it means to someone else when you’ve done it a thousand+ times. Kinda like walking. Most people don’t even think about how important it is to be able to walk.

These are just some thoughts after doing some grounding.

You’re very welcome.

Maybe slightly unrelated, but this is how I feel about manifesting (mostly via Law of Assumption / of Belief / of Consciousness, but also with prayer, petition, evocation). (Able-bodied) People learn how to walk in infancy, often before they can even speak. But imagine trying to explain to someone how to walk.

Or as an exercise, right now, close your eyes and imagine walking from where you are, to the front door of your house. Do you need to think about how high to lift each leg, what precise angle your knee must bend at, which muscle groups are engaged, how to place your foot and shift your weight… or do you just know how to do it, instinctively, through muscle memory?

But of course, there was a time when we were still learning this natural process through repeated trial and error. You could read a dozen books about the mechanics that enable the human body to walk, or you could just throw yourself into it and give it a try. And at some point, if you want to actually do the thing, you must just go for it and figure it out.

Same goes for magic and divination.

And if I’m not mistaken, you had the aid and assistance of an entity when you did your early cartomancy readings. (Not a stalker, I swear, I just remember trading readings with you about a year ago, and I still remember the accuracy of your readings, and how your readings helped me achieve my goal.) You can always call on that spirit as well. :sparkles:

This whole thing needs to be a motivational post. Every magician at every stage can use this information.

His name is Vassago. He actually helped me build my meanings for the deck. I haven’t talked to him in a while. I should really call on him again. astaroth helped too. Thank you again for the help. This might have been just want I needed to progress on my journey further.

Hehe, yep, I remember you mentioning Vassago specifically. That was actually what gave me my first personal association with a Tarot card, outside of the given interpretations. When I read for other mages now, the three of pentacles = working with spirits. So far it’s proven to be repeatedly accurate.

Good luck on your journey my friend :four_leaf_clover:

Hey, here is a challenge for you, give a tarot reading, but don’t use the cards, go by intuition alone. I have heard this somewhere, and hope to be good enough to try that oneday.

With my playing cards I can almost always predict 1-2 cards that will show. So I’m sure I’m gonna be there sooner or later

Well first I gotta get good at drawling. I’ll send a rough scratch of the ace of diamonds so you can get an idea of how far away I am right now.
