Is Bael and Ba'al are the same entity?

Can anybody tell me if Bael from Goetia is the same entity as Ba’al?

IF I’M REMEMBERING CORRECTLY, both spellings are anglophonetizings in vogue during different epochs of western occultic thought which referred to the same entity as understood by scholars at the time, yes.

I give that last caveat because I’m thinking “Baal” was a kind of catchall Hebrew term for heretical Caananite deities and idols.

Baal means Lord. I think youre correct.

Ba’al was a title and there were a few with that prefix. Bael is one of them, as to which I am uncertain.

It’s a tough question. There were two Baals, Baal Haddad and Baal Hamon (don’t know if I spelled that last one right). Ask ten people on the forum and you’ll get ten different answers. I say just ask one or the other.
