Some beings will favor one magician over another, for multiple reasons, be it past life connection, current life dedication/bonds, among other things. Ego isn’t a bad thing, ego is made up of your personality, your need to survive, your self respect, self worth, among many other aspects.
We all take pride in our accomplishments, what and who we are when we discover it, “We” as humans have a need to pigeon hole concepts such as favoritism, our appearance, etc as a “human creation” but it existed long before the humans of this planet.

That is only if they care about their parents. If they have got parents with powerful energies, they can reap the benefits of it by leaving them and they get to still keep the more energetically powerful body.
Yes to a degree I agree with you but at the same time one still has a family lineage to uphold or live up to no matter if we care or not. Because we build upon the accomplishments of our forefather’s or who it is we base our ideology on or belief system. So we still have someone else’s fame, notoriety, and or respect that we still have to live up to so to speak.
