I think I may start a new religion centered on Belial

I’ve always had a longing to spread doctrine and philosophy to others but never consistently felt* motivated for the Biblical God”. I have a religion name, some plans and etc mapped out, even started a small list of Belial wisdom proverbs lol.

If anybody has any useful information on Belial please feel free to share. Convincing people is a specialty of mine so your insight may very well contribute to something big one day

And by “religion”, I don’t mean praying to or worshiping Belial no. It’ll be similar to Satanism or etc. More so a collective of people who share a common doctrine and ideology. People are free to partake in whatever other belief simultaneously if they choose :slightly_smiling_face:

You gonna make a book of doctrines?

@meow a book will be made for members to learn from yes. Not any time soon obviously but as Belial directs me, I’ll be sure to write down the Wisdoms and Proverbs of what he says. But that’ll require me to have a much firmer connection with him plus years of insight just to perfect it all. It’s about quality & time really

If you try the search feature at top right Belial gets discussed a lot here.

The only religious approach I know with him right now is that of Marc Alan Smith in his book The Scorpion God.

@Mulberry OMG THANK YOOOUU!! Much appreciation. I didn’t expect each one to be about $300+ just for a used* one lol but I suppose it may be worth it. Have you read it by chance?

I’ve skimmed it, but I’m allergic to religion, and I find the concept of “devotion” revolting. That’s a me thing.

I prefer a mere set of sometimes mutable philosophies to live by. I can revisit them when my information changes without getting bogged down in agreeing with a bunch of other people.

@Mulberry I somewhat* agree however I can at least semi tolerate people’s blind faiths. Ultimately what I* plan on doing is leaning more to the philosophical side. Somewhat similar to Satanism, Buddhism, or Confucianism. In learning the teaching of Belial, I believe people will learn to think independently for themselves in the process

Well other people can do whatever they want, imo, as long as they don’t impose it on me, if that’s what you mean by “tolerating”.

But there isn’t a single person or organisation I agree with 100 percent, and I don’t rally thing it’s natural to do so. So religions seem to me to have only one reason to exist, to control how the members think. That’s is anathema to me.

I don’t really see how you’re supposed to get people to think independently by encouraging thier need to conform and be told what to do within a religious framework, by definition.

You see, the biggest issue here, imo, is the worship part. As I fundamentally believe the the operator IS the top of the hierarchy, that god IS WITHIN, so, as soon as you worship anything that is essentially just a small part of you, you are giving your power away to a lesser being, and insulting and diminishing yourself as a divine spirit in the process.

Ironically the one entity that knows that the best is Belial.

If you want to start a cult, Astaroth is by far a better choice. Starting cults is like her middle name, like, what she does. Belial is great, don’t get me wrong, but when it comes to devotion etc, there is a reason Crowley has this thing called libre Astarte.

Anyway, I did a whole series on the sacraments that bind people together in religion. It is on odyssey now, but I’m probably going to upload it more places later. Eucharist or Communion in the Western Mystery Tradition

Lol it’s not a cult. It’s a philosophy / doctrine. And huh… are you saying I should start a religion based on Astoroth??

Aren’t there more then enough religions in this world already? Do we really need another? Anyhow good luck to you if it’s what you really want to do but I advise reading up on the ends of some groups before you start your own and as it’s too political to discuss here that’s all I’m gonna say read up on don’t now defunct cults and how they ended rather badly for their leaders and followers.

Rather than a “religion”, I think it’d make better sense to have coven of like-minded individuals with Belial as your patron and point of focus.

So I’m curious on one thing, how does Belial communicate his “wisdoms” to you ?

@crookedpathfinder Neh. I believe that by following and learning from beings, people can receive their wisdoms and become knowledgeable and enlightened like them. I think people are reading this and INSTANTLY thinking about traditional religion where you pray and worship someone. No not at all. This religion will be about the same as Confucianism or Buddhism in method. Nobody’s worshipping* anybody more so learning from what Belial has to offer and teach

Words like ‘devotion’ carry a lot of baggage but I have to imagine that spirits probably save their most precious gifts/ wisdom for their most devoted. Not those who grovel the most, I mean devoted more like ‘devoted student’ or something along those lines. That being said if the goal is to spread the wisdom to as many people as possible, most people are more likely to read a book than join a new religion.

Culture is cult.

Religions pretty much start out as cults. And to most of the world anything with a name like Belial is going to be perceived as a cult for at least a while. And cults also have philosophies and doctrines, you can look at Jehovah’s Witness or LaVayen Satanism as examples of things that began as a Cult and then became more religious.

Good luck with this path, as you said it will take a long time and lots of hard work and dedication!

Satanism is a religion that reflects most practitioners of the left hand path here in the West, so there is no reason to start a new. Personally, I have called Satanism the religion of the western left hand path like hinduism is the religion of the eastern left hand path.

Interesting idea that there’s no reason for a new LHP religion. Do you also think that because Roman Catholics existed before many other types of Christians they shouldn’t have formed?

Personally, I think Satanism border RHP quite a bit.
