How do you assess whether an individual has bad intentions?

What sorts of factors do you look for?

Their actions, the way they talk in that moment.

I listen to my intuition. But it’s not infallible especially if you’re, like, blinded by emotions.

So some things specifically…

  • How do they speak of other people? Are they critical and harsh? Do they only speak poorly of others and never say nice things?
  • How do they speak of the opposite gender generally? (E.g. “all men are trash”, “women are all soOo eMoTiOnAL and illogical”)
  • Do they tell “funny” stories where they treated someone else like shit?
  • How do they treat people when there is a power difference between them, e.g. children, subordinates, service workers?
  • Do they have a victim mentality or do they take responsibility for their own life/position in life?
  • Do they like animals and do animals like them?
  • Do they have friends who seem well-adjusted/normal/kind?
  • What have their romantic relationships been like? Are all their exes “crazy”?

Also a key piece of advice: how do they speak of themselves? When someone tells you who they are, believe them. If they say something like “I’m brutally honest” or “I don’t want to hurt you, but…”, take them at their word and distance yourself.

I go largely by my intuition as well. Seems to get me out of most trouble.

I would do some research on body language.
