I do agree. Since I’ve been soaking up this forum, for some reason, I’m drawn to Lady Eva and her posts and comments. Anyway… I do believe reading and understanding works from all cross section of spirituality, gives the magickian a better feel and understandings of how spirits, angels, deities and all beings operate in the ALL. As for me, I started out with Christianity. which I think is a foundation that most magickian started from. Learning from that, they choose the path they end up taking. EA Koetting goes to the heart of black magick without the fluff. So for me, his works and imparted knowledge is the practical we do in science class. Now boning up on the theory from other (ancient) texts rounds out the magickian. At least, that’s what I think.
Education, education, education. Read everything you can AND start to practice. If you have the means, get a consultation. They are great at jump starting you in the right direction.
