Horror or Godhood Ascent?

As I indicated in my introduction I love all things horror, metal, etc. But my worry is this:

Is my watching of all things horror, perhaps creating and maintaining sub-conscious fears, that keeps me from working with daemonic spirits?_I would really love to work with demons, but I am worried that horror movies, games, etc might fuel sub-conscious fears?

Should I give it all up, in order to work with demons? Like for example I love exorcist movies, but maybe it is keeping me from my own accent?

I would really LOVE any advice, because I know this sounds silly, but this is a HUGE problem for me.

Worth a try! It may help if the idea has occurred to you, minds are complex things and will sometimes try to tell us something that we keep shushing them about, like they were whiny toddlers, when in fact they’re correct. If your gut says go for it, try a 4 or 6 week horror-fast and see how it affects you?

It did occur to me before that there was maybe something a BIT dodgy about them…

Thanks, that’s a great idea!

I will monitor my emotions, like anger, etc, and obviously fear, and maybe if I don’t jump at my own shadow, then I can have enough courage to start evoking, etc. But I know I can’t just stop for a weekend, it will have to be for almost a month, like you said.

If I don’t try, then I will never find out. Thanks, I kept on thinking to just stop permanently, but a few weeks of horror fast will probably give me the right perspective.

I want to start scrying into a black mirror with Sastan’s sigil, to help with my scrying abilities. But I will first give it, a few weeks, to detox from horror. Damn, it’s not going to be easy, but maybe sacrifice is sometimes good.

It could all be programming, or at least some of it, there are some very serious forces invested in keeping us from our true power, tens of millions of people have been killed in the last century alone by ideologies that see us just as beasts of burden and fear us getting our hands on true power, so it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a subtle effect over time.

I understand exactly what you mean! I was in film school a very long time ago, so we learnt a lot about sub-text, and what director’s are trying to say , or messages that directors are trying to give in their movies, and if I really think about possession movies, then although I enjoy those movies, they actually promote Christianity, because they show demons as these evil monsters and they are actually not.

Maybe Hollywood has this way, of making us addicted to their movies.

I never thought of it that way. It’s like we are being hypnotized, so that we do not see our own potential. If I remember correctly, EA maybe said or wrote something, saying that the Vatican could even be funding exorcist movies, because it will scare people, I think he wrote it in one of his books. Maybe there are more to that, than I thought.

Turning spirits, including ancestral gods and ancestors themselves, into “evil demons” (in the worst meaning of that word) was phase one of the great bamboozle, back when the Church commanded people’s fears and imaginations, then when that started to slip away, and the old control structures that keep people as obedient sheep to one shephard fell apart, what next - why, let’s make them into sinister beings, and use a method people actually pay for themselves, to indoctrinate people!

I don’t mind the odd horror movie but, well, I covered my doubts about them in that thread, see also Carrie, any movie (or book) where someone has advanced psychic abilities.

It’s funny lefties/liberals don’t get a lot of love on this forum, and Stephen King is a prime example of the kind of champagne socialist (even though the man’s a fucking entertaining author at times) that preaches that crap while living in one of his THREE plush houses, denouncing guns (but I bet has private security), and shunning inner-city “vibrancy” for HIS wife and kids - a LOT of his books have the subtle message “Don’t mess with forces you don’t understand, and if you have a gift, it will destroy you, and everything you love.”

Pet Semetary, for example - don’t mess with necromancy, Carrie, The Shining, Firestarter, and The Dead Zone, all about having powers and how that gift brings terrible outcomes to that person, their loved ones, and society, then in 11/22/63 he’s on about not trying to tamper with time, and reality, which IS the logical next step for magicians really once we get to grips with spirit interactions.

I can’t be too hard on him because his books have given me a lot of fun and I think he’s sincere, and plain naïve for the most part (though his occasional lurches into writing feminist horror, in which the monsters are men, is a bit putrid) - it just ties into that whole mentality of holding everyone back to attain not equality of opportunity, which is fine, but equality of outcome, so of course he’d have a subconscious fear of the naturally-gifted who rock that little apple cart.

I still read his stuff and like a lot of it, he has indeed got that gift of the gotta (gotta keep reading one more page!) but, he mostly purveys a very dodgy message, when you really analyse it as a practicing magician seeking ascent, and not a regular person looking for thrills.

Thank you so much Lady Eva for this message. I am actually going to print your thread and read it from time to time, because I have to admit, you have REALLY put things in perspective for me.

Logically, I understand and agree with you, but I know my emotions / addiction will not be that easy to give up, but I think if I have to choose between watching scary movies and evoking a real spirit, then by god, I want to be a magician! (I must say magick has always fascinated me from an early age, but maybe, I craved for something magical, not actually horror, I was just lead down the wrong path with horror, while I actually craved for supernatural interaction, not really scary movies.

Thanks for your insightful thread, you have really just motivated me, and helped me to think about thinks from a different perspective.

Thank you! I hope you share any insights you find, I really just started digging into this area and can’t claim any great insights beyond what I typed.

And trust me, you’ll find excitement enough when you immerse yourself in magick, when it stops being something you “do” and changes to being something you ARE!

I used to be fascinated by my dad’s old horror novels, some of them had really gross storylines, but as you say there they were the only things talking about the existence of unseen realities and the kinds of spirits I KNEW existed, and so I devoured them as the only available option.

It’s my most sincere hope that future generations have better books, and that’s one of the reasons I’m so enthusiastic about BALG’s work, they’re putting this stuff out there for people like it was any other field of study and I genuinely believe it SHOULD be, and not restricted to any small group who get their hands on power and knowledge, but then slam the door on everyone else.

Only you know if you have problems. Are you a social isolationist? Do you avoid people? Are you generally unfriendly with terrible social skills? Are you unable to approach a member of the opposite sex and state your intentions without fucking up and becoming a nervous wreck?

If yes to all then stop watching horror movies.

Now you sir!.. You I could chat with :)… Seen nearly every horror movie. The omen was my first horror movie :). Fear brother… I never understood but my father died on a full moon in April this year… Fear can be your PROBLEM… Demons will not work with you if u FEAR THEM… everyone in my family has died… I feel what Bruce Wayne felt when his parents died… My fear is lifted… And my strength and Darkness is my power… Lucifer my father, Lilith my mother… To answer your question yes… Give up the right hand path. But only if u choose… If u have to ask yourself or others YOU are not ready but only YOU can decide when  hopes this help brother

I quite enjoy horror movies. Especially ones about the occult or magick. Hellraiser was one of my first along with Nightmare on Elm Street (the original). I wanted so badly to be able to creep into people’s dreams like Freddy or fuck up my enemies like Pinhead.

Thanks for the advice. I can socially interact with people, although I am an introvert. But I have problems with anxiety. And what you said made me wonder now, I too much horror might be increasing my anxiety. Thanks, you gave me something to think about.

I really appreciate your advice, thanks, it is truly a battle for me, although it sounds stupid, but I understand what you mean about the fact that demons do not want to work with people who fear them, I have also heard other people saying the exact same thing. thanks, you gave me something to really think about.

Nightmare on Elm Street is my all time favorite!

I think it would be awesome to evoke a fictional character like Freddy! But on the other hand, maybe he would really mess with someone badly, if you evoke him.
I don;t even want to think about evoking Pinhead, I think he would just fuck one up. lol.

No I meant do you get off on watching gore?

You don’t appear to.

O, I understand. Yes, I think I should stop. My anxiety is sky high this morning and I only watched a lot of actions movies over the weekend.

Looks like there is not a single movie that one can watch, without having a certain effect on your sub-conscious mind. When I was in a clinic in the beginning of the year, the psychologists said that people with high anxiety should not even watch action movies.

Problem is, I am addicted to stuff that just fucks me up. However, I need to make a plan, I am really not feeling too good this morning.

Yes, but supernatural horror like exorcist movies are my favorite. But I do enjoy gore, yes, but to an extent.
