I think that if by astral core you mean do you have an energy body, and since I think you can’t not have an energy body and still be alive, you have to have one. Or you’d be dead.

I have been suffering of the same for some time, except that the girl isn’t really my ex (long, horrible story, you wouldn’t like to know). But I have discovered something: the obsession is a mechanism to stop or hide some other thing.

Obsession won’t go away if you don’t take care of whatever it stopping/hiding, so try to identify that and work from there.
