Good substitution wood for hazel and elder(from mississippi)

Well, I’m about to start working through the true grimoire. the problem is, to my knowledge, and the little help google provided, hazel and elder are not indigenous to MS. I did some divination and local substitutions are acceptable. I’m willing to travel to the states next door(alabama, Louisiana, arkansas, and tennessee) but traveling any great distance isn’t financially feasible.

Ok back on track, why is it that these woods are preferred over others? if it is certain properties( like having a solar nature or lunar nature), etc. what other woods would have the same nature(ps. bloodstone can be a viable substitute for emerald or ruby due to possessing a solar nature). what woods would you recommend in there place and why? and how close do these woods grow to MS
