You get rid of them like you would any other thoughts. Meditate and learn to control your mind. Practice exercises, like dropping the thoughts into a fast moving stream, and watching them flow away.

When the thought comes up, observe the thought. Don’t try to stop it. Tell yourself, “This is an obsessive thought. It isn’t important right now.” Continue doing whatever you were doing, even if the thought keeps happening. You can also imagine your obsessive thoughts as just a young toddler babbling in your ear. It’s annoying, but not harmful. Just a word that your inner toddler has fixated on.
