Does Use Of Pornography Harm One's Magick?

That’s not really what this debate is about. I’ve never argued that it can’t be transmuted for use into other things. Thats basically the whole concept of sex magick…and that is clearly a thing that works, so I would never argue that. My contention here is surrounding its necessity to have magick of all forms to work at all.

Oh gotcha , I kind of skimmed through what you were saying , didn’t know if you were one of those peeps that say it’s complete psuedoscience

Well that’s actually a really good example because the fruit is the powerhouse, the thing everyone thinks of, yet really it’s just life force for the DNA in the seed to exist in.

So a tree that makes seedless fruit is still putting a lot of its own physical and spiritual energy into those fruit.

I’m looking at Wikipedia and it;s saying average ejaculate is about a teaspoonful (seems a bit on the low side) and in that are millions of micrsocpic spermatazoa, but they probably wouldn’t seem like a marge amount if they weren’t in that fluid.

No, you’d just be retaining the microscopic spermatazoa, but losing semen at the same rate, with your body not really knowing any different. Seedless apples, but still apples, so to speak. .

I’m trying to find what proportion of a typical ejaculation is actual sperm cells but as you can probably imagine, that’s not easy.

Sacred semen

In some pre-industrial societies, semen and other body fluids were revered because they were believed to be magical. Blood is an example of such a fluid, but semen was also widely believed to be of supernatural origin and effect and was, as a result, considered holy or sacred. The ancient Sumerians believed that semen was “a divine substance, endowed on humanity by Enki”, the god of water.[40]:28[41] The semen of a god was believed to have magical generative powers.[40]:49 In Sumerian mythology, when Enki’s seed was planted in the ground, it caused the spontaneous growth of eight previously-nonexistent plants.[40]:49[42] Enki was believed to have created the Tigris and Euphrates rivers by masturbating and ejaculating into their empty riverbeds.[40]:32, 49 The Sumerians believed that rain was the semen of the sky-god An,[43] which fell from the heavens to inseminate his consort, the earth-goddess Ki,[43] causing her to give birth to all the plants of the earth.[43]

Dew was once thought to be a sort of rain that fertilized the earth and, in time, became a metaphor for semen. The Bible employs the term “dew” in this sense in such verses as Song of Solomon 5:2[44] and Psalm 110:3, declaring, in the latter verse, for example, that the people should follow only a king who was virile enough to be full of the “dew” of youth.[45]

The orchid’s twin bulbs were thought to resemble the testicles, which is the etymology of the disease orchiditis. There was an ancient Roman belief that the flower sprang from the spilled semen of copulating satyrs.[46]

In a number of mythologies around the world, semen is often considered analogous to breast milk. In the traditions of Bali, it is considered to be the returning or refunding of the milk of the mother in an alimentary metaphor. The wife feeds her husband who returns to her his semen, the milk of human kindness, as it were.[47]

Sorry, i keep using the word semen and sperm interchangeably. Old habits. But from what i know offhand…i think the vast majority of the ejaculate is mostly water and just 1% sperm

Such regrets (guilt, culpability) stem from religion. Myriads of male adult stars release semen frequently, and they do not seem tired or skeletal. On the contrary, they are filled w/ vigour (a lot of them go to the gym, work out a lot), and they have that glow, that radiance, that beaming look. The receipts are all over Twitter and Instagram… Obviously, it does not seem to affect them much.

I am trying to understand both sides here (I agree one’s energies should primarily go towards higher aspirations, and it’s best to have a real partner), but such strict prohibition is akin to those ancient religious proscriptions. I think moderation is best, but to each their own.

I’ve moved this here because the other thread’s now a working thread, it just keeps things tidier (also means we don’t have like 4 going at once on the same topic!). This is a debate thread, for different views etc. :+1:

I kind of agree with this… I’m actually here to see if there’s any tips on quitting fapping all together.
It’s debated that excessive fapping can cause hair loss cause of the increased dht from edging.

I believe this to be true because I’ve taken a week off from it and noticed my hair wasn’t shedding at all and as soon as I did it again I was shedding lots of hair.

So overall I’m trying to quit for my overall health and sanity.

Depends what you watch

Watching notoriously violent, disgusting and perverse things is highly damaging and nasty

I prefer sensual art, I’m less likely to see vomit or people being punched in the face as entertainment

Im kind if sceptical to be honest.
For one its normal to lose up to 100 hairs each day. So if you say “my hair wasn’t shedding at all”, how literal was that supposed to be?
Another thing: hormones need time to be balanced again. Is one week enough for that to happen AND see results?
Maybe Im wrong but I wanted to challenge you on that.

I can just create my own porn in my mind or edit pictures of women I lust for in Microsoft paint. Do I win something?

If spanking the monkey makes you tired, bald, weak, and sickly, then so does good old-fashioned sexual intercourse. There are billions and billions of different ways to choke the chicken, but ultimately there’s no better way to relieve stress and feel happy inside than to blow your load at least once per day.

I should of been more specific, hair definitively does shed and I’ve still seen some hairs she’s here and there but I what I really mean is that my hair feels not as “weak”. So much of it would come out when I was run a brush through it or blow dry it, and mind you I’m very delicate with my hair and have been for about 4 years now.

So yes I still experiende regular amounts of hair shed but my hair quality feels like it’s getting stronger. Wish me luck anyways, I’m definitely interested to see where this no fap gets me especially on a spiritual level, I really want to improve my meditation

Porn harms one’s magick because it harms one’s whole life.

Porn is “free”, although we live in a capitalist world mostly, where NOTHING is free. This, alone, should get people to think.

In capitalism, when something is given to you for free, it’s because you’re the product.

Yeah I decided I’ll TRY to give this a go for a couple of weeks and see what benefits it may bring. I’ll keep y’all updated !

Such a good point to bring up !

Can you explained on how humans are the product to free porn ?

Personally I’ve felt that porn steals our imagination and creativity away.

Imagination is pretty vital in the magick community, I find if your going to fap it might be better to do it to your imagination? Could he easier said than done though…

Thats pretty much the only thing that sticked for me personally from no-fap (not saying that there are no other benefits, just that thats the most notable one for me).
Switching from porn to imagination helped me big time not only with developing imagination but also in confronting repressed desires and shame around the sex topic.

It is, at least if youre a porn addict like I was. I relapsed often and made small progress over a long period of time. At some point I made the switch to only looking at images instead of videos and that took a long time to get there.
Now Im finally at a point where I look at images rarely and use my imagination 80-90% of the time.
Jerking off has become fun again, A LOT actually. It helps me process feelings of shame concerning the topic and it helps me to clarify what kinks I actually enjoyed and what kind of stuff I just watched because I needed to ‘up the dose’.

I can tell everyone who is struggling with this right now that everytime you use your imagination instead of porn youve just made progress. Relapsing is normal and will happen but over time you grow and you come closer to your goal.

Good luck on your journey people!

Yes I definitely agree.
Sometimes depending on my mood I’m able to force myself to climax to imaginations of me achieving my desires and dreams in the future for manifesting purposes. The moment of climax, i tried to visualize and believe with all my will power that it’s the moment of my manifestations coming to fruition.
I’ve done this maybe about 4-5 times ever, it’s hard, atleast for me and I the first time sometimes climaxing doesn’t feel AS pleasurable especially if your doing it to imaginations that aren’t as sexual.

My manifestation goals have mainly been centered around advancing my career, money, luxury, lifestyle living, and beauty, and self love.

Some of these factors are connected to sex on some degree which made it a tiny bit easier to climax to them but overall,
I’ve experienced expedited results the few time’s ive done this.

Also works really well with love spells.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted in this thread, and my original posts were more me posting how pornography can be beneficial. Coming from a love of burlesque, exotic dance and adult entertainment (and also having quite a few friends in this arena), I’m biased towards the celebratory aspect of sexual expression.

I’ve looked into a lot of the feedback here, and I’m doing more research on the harmful aspects of pornography to have a more well-rounded approach.

I found some interesting videos I’m linking. They might be useful to others interested in the subject.

The Science of Sexual Fantasies with Justin Lehmiller
The Dangers of Porn Addiction ft. Andrew Huberman

One of my earlier mistakes was speaking with emotion rather than reason and being biased to my experience, but I’m interested in developing more nuance in my social media presence so I’ll manage that more effectively in future posts. I also neglected to keep the topic specific, and I branched out into sex work overall.

I’m analyzing the specific topic of porn more more for its scientific data but also for artistic value because I do think erotic art is beneficial in some way, so I’m exploring what those visual or contextual boundaries with erotic art and pornography actually are.

I’m interested in what the data would look like if porn was made more as an art subculture focusing on fashion, fetish and sensation rather than a hyper-accessible, hardcore means of dopamine production and trafficking enabling.

It was incorrect for me to assume criticism of pornography as criticism of sexuality. I don’t think it’s healthy to teach “suppression” of libido, but I am interested in the most effective means of channeling that passion and focusing on the mechanisms that are really at play when sexual media becomes an addiction.

Thanks for the feedback!

I would love to talk about this. I’ve had this idea, making realistic, caring, sensual art that’s made with care and passion as well as integrity. I think it could truly be helpful to people.
