Does Use Of Pornography Harm One's Magick?

Oooooooo curious question and I think this may be a little bizarre but what if say a porn creator… Just bare with me… Watched their own??. I know it sounds funny but I seriously want to know your thoughts, do you think it would be any worth empowering?

I dunno man , everybody’s soul has different vibration that effects how they interact with things on the 3D plane . Some people are at a stage they can tolerate denser things and maybe even transmutate the energy for something . For some people they have aversions to it , just depends

Literally the answer to this entire thread lol. Some people need to work with these energies, and porn can be a tool for them. For others who dont need it, it can be annoying, or even destructive if not done mindfully.

Yeah sexuality and spirituality are broad subjects the only factual thing is pornography harms the brain

Extreme sleep deprivation also damages the brain and can even kill you, yet it is used to induce insanely potent spiritual experiences and is used in magick. For pornography, even if you feel a negative emotion, those negative feelings can also be used in magick. Everything can be a tool for the magician.
But the brain is incomprehensibly complex and everyone has a different reaction to different things. For some, indulging in pornography can increase their feeling of Life Force. For me, I find at times it numbs the feeling of Life, but at other times it increases the feeling of Life exponentially.

And on the topic of ‘addiction’, if you feel addicted to pornography and you try to break that, then the vast energy you generate through your resistance can have powerful applications in magick as well.
For some, watching pornography is resistance, and is rebellion. That alone can be powerful.

But everything also depends on what form the pornography is in. I know some use Playboy magazines as offerings to certain Love, Lust, and Beauty deities, which can be a good offering depending on what it means to you.

A mage once reported Asmodeus as telling him adult entertainment is just fine as long as it doesn’t interfere w/ one’s life, etc. Many mages (incl. mages here, on BALG) have actually left the Catholic Church (or some other Church—any religion) because of precisely the restrictions and penalties imposed on sexuality, adult entertainment esp. They now want the freedom to indulge in it as they please, and as you’ve mentioned, it is sometimes a rebellious act for them.

Adult entertainment is not such a new scene; it actually started long ago, as far back as Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome and Ancient India, w/ public sculptural or painted displays of lovemaking, orgies, nude Gods and Goddesses and so on. It then, w/ the video and printed media, took it’s actual form in the twentieth century, but modern pornography started as early as the sixteenth century. Therefore, adult material consumers of today are only replicating an age-old behaviour ingrained in their DNA.

Here is a very detailed and informative paper:

Just a few excerpts:

“It did not take long for stag films/blue movies (primitive pornographic films) to emerge. According to The Mirror (2007), a French film titled Le Coucher De La Marie (1896) was the first pornographic film; it displayed a couple having sex and a female striptease. Stag films were a major leap forward for modern pornography; audiences could voyeuristically watch real people engaging in real sex acts as if they were physically present at the scene.”

“Stag films were smuggled into towns by travelling salesmen for bachelor parties, military events, college fraternities and other exclusively male “smoker” events. It was also common to find them in brothels where they were employed for arousal purposes to generate business. After World War II, large numbers of people made their own stag films using 8mm film.”

“Pornography is now the most popular Internet destination for American men aged eighteen to thirty four. It is 50 percent more popular than music sites or eBay and four times more popular than travel services such as hotel and airline reservations (Lehman, 2006).”

As you can see, this vice is nothing new, and our ancestors were not always so virtuous! And it appears adult entertainment is now more popular than ever thanks to platforms such as OnlyFans, JustFor.Fans, Chaturbate, CamSoda and so on that allow just about anybody to broadcast their exploits to the world wide web instantly!

Ever since this COVID-19 situation, more and more youngsters (they’re all over Twitter) have been joining those platforms to make money (since many were let go of a job, forced to stay home, etc.). And curiously, in spite of all social distancing rules, production of such movies (home or studio, w/ two or more partners) does not seem to have stalled. Some celebrities have now joined the trend, and rapper Tyga has amassed over $7.9 million last year on OnlyFans (he films w/ many women on a boat, in a pool, etc.).

How moral or immoral all that is, to me, depends on consent and responsibility (such STD screening, HIV-prevention Truvada pills and birth control). As for the effect on one’s magick? It can be used as a tool in lust workings. I know mages who indulge in such entertainment, and their magick is not impaired. It would only be a problem if it interfered w/ the magician’s focus during their daily practice and rituals, took too much of their energy and attention.

Having said all that, I am aware of the dark side of the adult industry… And yeah, such entertainment is not intended for minors. But you’ll notice how some songs/music videos viewed by minors are getting more and more hardcore in content.

So I have a question for you all that i’ve been thinking about. There’s been a lot of back and forth lately on the effects of fapping vs NoFapping…and I was wondering how getting a vasectomy would affect things. Since you aren’t releasing sperm after getting snipped, you are technically no fapping even if you are masturbating regularly because your sperm isn’t in the ejaculate and just stays in your body. So does this mean that a simple vasectomy can give you the best of both worlds?..ie. the pleasure of frequent masturbation without the possible consequences to ones magick. Interesting to think about…

A vasectomy does not have any effect on libido, and that is how we know nofap is pseudoscience. The whole premise of nofap is that it will increase your libido and you will get all of the good things that come with that. That effect is not consistent across the population.

You make a good point

I thought the energy was in the vital fluid which nourished the sperm (as in, actual swimmers). Men still ejaculate after vasectomy, and have the exact same chemical and emotional changes.

Same way menstrual fluid is powerful without being the same as an egg (which is a tiny and vulnerable thing) - the lining of the womb is the matrix of life in a woman, just as the fluid is for a man.

The actual spermatazoa are tiny and very vulnerable, just like you can’t even see an egg, but period blood (and placenta etc) are all so visible that we have whole customs and rites, and taboos, attached to them.

And PS it’s that stuff which has all the - for want of a better word, because it sounds like a recipe :man_facepalming: - nutrients in it, to keep the spermatazoa alive.

That doesn’t change just because tiny packages of DNA are not inserted, and the rest of the body (and energy body) don’t know the difference. When a woman gets her tubes tied, the tiny DNA-bearing egg not making it to the uterus doesn’t affect her cycle or her basic energy much, and her menstrual blood is still as powerful.

Sorry…you’re right. i meant sperm. Yes, you still will ejaculate with a vasectomy, but my main question is, since the sperm in this case would be reabsorbed into the body constantly and never ejaculated, this would be similar to those in the tantric tradition that have become Urdhvaretas…where they have full orgasms while containing the ejaculate (ie. dry orgasms). Of course, the goal for me wouldn’t be to become one of these yogis…as there is a lot more to it than just retaining semen…but for practical magickal purposes, if I were to be convinced that some form of semen retention is useful…the vasectomy route is an interesting one

But you’d still be losing semen (aka seminal fluid):

Semen, also known as seminal fluid, is an organic fluid created to contain spermatozoa. It is secreted by the gonads (sexual glands) and other sexual organs of male or hermaphroditic animals and can fertilize the female ovum. In humans, seminal fluid contains several components besides spermatozoa: proteolytic and other enzymes as well as fructose are elements of seminal fluid which promote the survival of spermatozoa, and provide a medium through which they can move or “swim”. Semen is produced and originates from the seminal vesicle, which is located in the pelvis.

Source: Semen - Wikipedia

Whereas spermatazoa are the tiny passengers:

A human sperm cell consists of a flat, disc shaped head 5.1 µm by 3.1 µm and a tail 50 µm long.[2] The tail flagellates, which propels the sperm cell (at about 1–3 mm/minute in humans) by whipping in an elliptical cone.[3] Sperm have an olfactory guidance mechanism

Spermatozoon - Wikipedia

A man with a very low sperm count (spermatazoa, as in, living cells which can fertilise an egg) can still produce normal semen when he ejaculates, and men don’t lose less of more energy depending on the quality of the sperm cells within the semen afaik.

So if a man gets a vasectomy he’s still losing that vital fluid and the nourishing life energy, same as a woman with tubal ligation still loses menstrual blood even of the egg doesn’t reach it, and that blood is still powerful and as relevant spiritually.

Well, I’m looking at this from a NoFappers perspective…especially those who swear up and down that it is necessary for good magick. For most of a guys life…the sperm and the nutritional fluid that comes with it in the ejaculate don’t mix. It only mixes when you stimulate yourself (ie. fapping). So since that is the case…if i were to believe their perspective…then clearly the seminal fluid is not that important for semens power…because for most of these guys, if they aren’t stimulating themselves, then their sperm is pretty much in constant isolation. Really, if you think about it/research…the main purpose of the seminal fluid is to help the sperm survive in the highly acidic environment of a womans vagina. Its not a necessity for sperm while stored in the male…therefore making the seminal fluid largely irrelevant for the purposes of NoFap. Seminal fluid only becomes important when the sperm is destined to leave it seems

Even if I were to believe that sperm contained special powers for the male (which is really the only argument I’ve heard on this)…believing the seminal fluid was relevant also, given these facts…would be even more of a stretch…because even the body doesn’t consider it important for the sperm until they’re destined for that sweet vagina

But they’re not releasing it.

And unlike women, who shed uterine lining on a schedule, regardless of lifestyle, men have a choice to keep that within if they choose.

Well I don’t think a man’s body knows whether it’s destined for an ovulating beauty queen or that special crusty sock, it just thinks “Yay, chance at biological immortality, let’s give it our best shot!”

So it still pours physical energy into making the best seminal fluid, which is the vehicle for spermatazoa and not just protection. And therefore for those of us who believe in ut, spiritual energy as well, same as my body pours both physical and spiritual into a uterine lining each month, even if it just ends up being shed and flushed away.

Why is it so hard to believe that something that creates life isn’t vital energy force that can be transmitafed into other things

A large portion of the food you eat goes into creating reproductive fluids so why does it not make sense that holding this in will nourish other aspects of yourself

Well, i never hear practitioners/followers of this stuff put any importance at all into the seminal fluid itself. Its all about the sperm and the symbols of the seed bearing fruit and whatnot. But even if what you say is correct…surely there would be some benefit to be had if the ejaculations you had henceforth, only resulted in the loss of this fluid and not sperm? So the hierarchy would be NoFap (loosing nothing) > VasectoFaps (retaining sperm, but loosing seminal fluid) > NormieFaps (loosing everything)

That’s not really what this debate is about. I’ve never argued that it can’t be transmuted for use into other things. Thats basically the whole concept of sex magick…and that is clearly a thing that works, so I would never argue that. My contention here is surrounding its necessity to have magick of all forms to work at all.

Oh gotcha , I kind of skimmed through what you were saying , didn’t know if you were one of those peeps that say it’s complete psuedoscience

Well that’s actually a really good example because the fruit is the powerhouse, the thing everyone thinks of, yet really it’s just life force for the DNA in the seed to exist in.

So a tree that makes seedless fruit is still putting a lot of its own physical and spiritual energy into those fruit.

I’m looking at Wikipedia and it;s saying average ejaculate is about a teaspoonful (seems a bit on the low side) and in that are millions of micrsocpic spermatazoa, but they probably wouldn’t seem like a marge amount if they weren’t in that fluid.

No, you’d just be retaining the microscopic spermatazoa, but losing semen at the same rate, with your body not really knowing any different. Seedless apples, but still apples, so to speak. .

I’m trying to find what proportion of a typical ejaculation is actual sperm cells but as you can probably imagine, that’s not easy.

Sacred semen

In some pre-industrial societies, semen and other body fluids were revered because they were believed to be magical. Blood is an example of such a fluid, but semen was also widely believed to be of supernatural origin and effect and was, as a result, considered holy or sacred. The ancient Sumerians believed that semen was “a divine substance, endowed on humanity by Enki”, the god of water.[40]:28[41] The semen of a god was believed to have magical generative powers.[40]:49 In Sumerian mythology, when Enki’s seed was planted in the ground, it caused the spontaneous growth of eight previously-nonexistent plants.[40]:49[42] Enki was believed to have created the Tigris and Euphrates rivers by masturbating and ejaculating into their empty riverbeds.[40]:32, 49 The Sumerians believed that rain was the semen of the sky-god An,[43] which fell from the heavens to inseminate his consort, the earth-goddess Ki,[43] causing her to give birth to all the plants of the earth.[43]

Dew was once thought to be a sort of rain that fertilized the earth and, in time, became a metaphor for semen. The Bible employs the term “dew” in this sense in such verses as Song of Solomon 5:2[44] and Psalm 110:3, declaring, in the latter verse, for example, that the people should follow only a king who was virile enough to be full of the “dew” of youth.[45]

The orchid’s twin bulbs were thought to resemble the testicles, which is the etymology of the disease orchiditis. There was an ancient Roman belief that the flower sprang from the spilled semen of copulating satyrs.[46]

In a number of mythologies around the world, semen is often considered analogous to breast milk. In the traditions of Bali, it is considered to be the returning or refunding of the milk of the mother in an alimentary metaphor. The wife feeds her husband who returns to her his semen, the milk of human kindness, as it were.[47]
