Contacting One Spirit Too Many Times?

I’d first like to say that I’m new to forums in general. I did try the search feature to find anything on what I’m about to ask but nothing came up. So I apologize if I have blinders on and this has been asked already.

A little bit about my magick career so far. I’ve been actively practicing for about two months now, I’ve gotten to the point where I can enter the TGS and keep it going. I wanted to make sure I had this down before any attempt at evocation, which took up most of the two months as I started from scratch. As of now I only have three evocations under my belt, the first I felt didn’t work and the following two I was getting responses internally immediately (among other things). No thinking, no pauses, but responses to my questions and requests. Old hat to most of you but exciting for me.

These evocations have all been with King Paimon, one thing I had asked of him was to help me become a better practitioner and that I wished to get to know him. He agreed, advised me to take all of this very seriously (He actually said this both times we spoke, almost stressing it as to avoid getting on his bad side) and to contact him the next seven nights. Now immediately I’ve been seeing an effect. If I have a question, I find the answer immediately either in a book or on some online resource (Like I knew exactly where to go, only I didn’t), fantastic information I was unaware of is just popping up, meditation seems easier, I feel more focused, and strangely today a strong desire to purchase a censer and incense (I’ve been using incense sticks).

My questions:

Evoking one entity this many times in the beginning without evoking any other, is this to be avoided? Should I be practicing this art with other entities and not just one for this length of time at this point in my career?

Should I limit the number of evocations I perform in one day? I know one can evoke numerous spirits at a time but what about numerous different spirits in a day in separate rituals?

Is it normal to lose track of time during this process? I feel as though less time has elapsed than what my clocks say when I finish, almost as though I’ve been somewhere else during the evocation and upon returning a sort of time dilation has occurred.

One last question to tack on: what is the consensus on offering gifts to an entity? I’ve found that some people do it and others not. While I’m not worshiping these entities, nor have I been asked for anything, I do feel as though a sign of gratitude/respect should be shown for the work they are doing. I’m not offering blood but small things such as a glass of wine, tobacco, water, incense, usually a liquid and something solid.

If King Paimon has okayed it and even suggested you focus on him, and work intensely for a specific period, then there’s nothing to avoid there - many spirits will request an intense period of working when you first contact them, for all kinds of reasons, so if he’s said to do this, then go with the plan, is my advice.

There is value in acquiring balance, over long periods of time (working with angels as well as demons is the simplest example) but when you’re doing some form of intense pathworking and being mentored by a spirit, I’ve found it’s best to commit to them for the duration of that working.

E.A. covers this in some of his work, as “subjective synthesis” - creating, through a conscious act of will, subjective immersion in the paradigm you’re working within, and that translates to more free-form things as well, like being mentored by a spirit outside any conventional paradigm.

If someone came to stay in your house to spend a week learning from you, and it’s a subject you’re passionate about, it would be a hit disruptive if they decided to randomly clear out and go learn different methods from soneone else, or if you were talking to them but the’yre busy scrolling on their phone trying to prove you wrong or that your teaching is incomplete somehow.

We can’t really apply our own reactions to spirits, but there are some areas where they seem to share the same likes and dislikes we have, such as wanting the full attention of anyone who calls upon their own time and attention, and being passionate about their field, and to promoting their own views.

My experience so far has been that it’s kind of like dealing with astral Trekkies, full of the love of their own specialised subject and very willing to share readily with a receptive audience. I posted some findings about that here.

Keep it simple at first, because these are immensely powerful beings and they can affect your energy, your psyche, so working with too many at once, in the early stages, may throw you off balance.

Find a spirit and commit to learning all they can teach yopu, and then you can start adding new influences later. It’s also a good idea, when you find a spirit you trust, to consult with them before working with any other spirits, because they will know better than you if there’s a potential clash.

Yes, that happens to me a lot, anyway.

I think it’s a good thing, we give gifts and appreciation to people we love, so why not to spirits - they seem to have their own distinct preferences, which are sometimes surprising (Belial liking you to give him things you really wanted for yourself, for example) so they seem to thrive upon this, it goes back as far as recorded history, so I think it’s an important aspect of magick and of any spiritual relationship.

Don’t try to over-reach, be flashy, or offer things but then resent the cost or effort, that’s the only thing that seems to sour an offering and even piss the spirit off.

All JMO here and based on my experiences so far, anyway.

The more you contact a spirit the more you bond and the more your skills grow. Having a friendly relationship with a like minded spirit can be highly beneficial and even life saving. But don’t just focus on that spirit. Odin said to me four months ago, that I was focusing on him and the Norse deities too much and that I needed to work with multiple entities. You don’t want to worship it (at least not without worshipping and deifying yourself first). I think you can have great respect and friendship with spirits but I don’t really want to worship anything even a spirit. I spent too much of my childhood and adolescence worshipping.
