Consecrating cards

Greetings people!!
During some years Ive visited several card readers. Some of them were quite good, some were...well. About a year ago, I met this woman who lives in a city next to mine, who is actually real good when reading cards. Thats the only thing she does, she is not into the others aspects of the occult, when from time to time she believes her house needs a cleansing due to all the kinds of energy filling it, shed call another woman to do it. Well back to the point lol: Although I feel happy with her readings when I need one, Ive asked myself "why dont YOU learn to do it?". The type of cards are not tarot: they are the type known as "spanish cards". Yeah, people use them around here to play but Ive seen very detailed readings with those cards.
My questions are:
I`ve purchased a set, but I know you need to consecrate them before you start.
1-How did you do that?
2-Where do you keep them so its energy keeps contained?
Thank you guysss!!

Well Good for You, Mundopincha! Learning to read cards is a wonderful tool to have in your bag of tricks!

With regard to ‘consecrating’ them, I have a suggestion about that. The concecration ritual is designed to establish your bond with your cards and to define your use of them for specific purposes. In essence, you are making them a “sacred tool”.

You can use any ritual you like - make it as simple or as elaborate as you like. The real point is that you FEEL like you are indeed a Priestess with the power & authority to assign & to bless; to consecrate & to charge. Because this IS what you are doing. You can find a ritual online or in a book - as you read thru them you will see how varied they are, and you will also see steps in the ritual that are common to all of them. Those common steps are the “must haves” so to speak.

Do understand that it is YOU that makes the ritual sacred & successful. If your heart is in it you cannot get it wrong. You pouring your intention, your vision for yourself, your desire to bond with your cards IS the Work.

As for storing them, I made a cloth specifically for that purpose - you can paint, bejewel or embroider it to suit you - and keep your cards wrapped in it. I made mine large enough to use as a Readings mat as well. My cards only come in contact with 2 things - me and that cloth.

Insofar as"keeping the energy" I think the cloth suffices well. I would also add that, in the beginning, handling your cards every day is a great benefit; look at them, ponder them, think about the ways they benefit you.

Enjoy the Ritual & the Cards, MundoP! Z

Now I didn’t really know anything about tarot or if there was a specific ritual to consecrate it, but the dudes I have a pact with gave me a special method of doing so. I doubt this would work as well for most people as it involved a few magic tools most people don’t have. But so far all the readings I have done for myself seem to be accurate. If anyone has anything their mulling over I could try doing one for you to see how well it goes with other people.

Good point, Defectron! It goes without saying that the wisdom of your own Personal Assistants should always be considered when making choices about things. I forgot to mention that, so I’m glad you brought it up. Sometimes I forget I didn’t always know this when speaking to someone fairly new to Deliberate Magick - thanks man! Z

What i do is sleep with my cards every night. i keep them between my legs or around my legs. they dont bother me or anything.

Y’know, WeatherWitch, I’m glad you brought this up! While I don’t use this practice with cards, I DO use a similar technique for absorbing information! And because its kinda odd, I think it bears mentioning.

Anytime I’m about to read a book or text of profound importance, before I ever open the cover, I sleep with it - specifically I sleep "around’ it, curled on my side with the book cradled against me. I cannot explain WHY this works, but it does!

Whether its osmosis or psychic uploading or whatever, every time I do this, without fail, its like I already have a framework for understanding established in me before I begin to read. Z

i should have listened to my mom when she told me to sleep with the book i have to learn from. she allways said that as a joke

ah well, new practice for me! man, i’m almost 30 and i am discovering america.

LOL…I am almost 70 and have been all over the world…You are just a baby…but now I am working on a ticket to other universes…

Maxx

This is what I do. Sleep with them. Even under your pillow case if it easier.

I realize that this was posted such a long time ago but I appreciate the words in the here and now…I do this too! I never felt directed to but it always felt right. I’ve slept with cards, crystals, books…whatever I am magically focused on at the time… : )
