Calling on the power of the full moon when it's not full moon

Hi everyone.

I have a grimoire that specifically states to do workings on The night of the full moon, except that really only gives me 1-2 days max to work these rituals each month.

Is there a way to call upon the power of a full moon when it’s not full moon? I’d hate to think I’m screwed the other 27-28 days of the month. Is there a way to presence that full moon power during other times?

Since you are following the grimoire, yes you have to do it on the full moon, it’s probably a significant part of the energetic design.

BUT - if you design your own ritual that’s “inspired by” the work in the grimoire that suits your energy better, you can do that.

You have to consider the purpose of the full moon element, and replace it.

For example, if the reason for doing it on the nights of the full moon is to bring the energy of completion and fullness, then find another way to bring that energy in. Or just find another ritual.

Depends what you’re doing. There are also many rituals under “moon magick” that rely on the energies of other phases. Curses are often done on the New Moon, but that’s also good for beginnings.

There is a new moon each month, followed by a full moon two weeks later. The energy from the new moon builds over that two week period. The cycle has four distinct phases in every 30 day cycle:

New Moon:

New moons represent fresh starts and beginnings, a new moon marks the beginning of a new cycle. This is the time to start new intentions and goals. The new moon means the moon is invisible, the sky is dark, and thus full of potential. A great time to start from scratch begin your rituals for prosperity or future success and to invite new opportunity into your life.

First Quarter/Waxing Moon:

The moon is half illuminated and half dark, black shadowed. This is the time to take action, to do the work necessary to foster the intentions you’ve set during the new moon rituals. This is a time of strength, hard work, intention and energy. A good time to launch the challenging work required to actualize your desires in ritual.

Full Moon:

Full moons mark turning points, manifestations or closure. The moon is bright and illuminated. The moon shines down upon us from sunset to sunrise. Your energy and powers are strengthened with the full moon. This is a time to fulfill your rituals, anything is possible. A time to connect with higher powers and spirits of the Goetia. This is the culmination of all the work that has come before.

Last Quarter/Waning Moon:

The waning moon is about releasing. Letting go of what no longer serves you, cleansing, break free of bad habits. This is the time to create rituals for your desires on the approaching new moon. A great time to go inward for meditation.

There is tremendous power in harnessing the energy of the moon. Whether you want to improve your health, your career, or your relationships, the four phases of the moon are a path to manifestation. And when you align with these phases, you can work with natural forces to clarify and refine what you want. Overtime, when you commit to learning how to manifest with the moon, in all phases you are in sync with your rituals and environment.

But if you don’t want to use the moon, why are you trying to follow a moon-based ritual anyway?

What are you actually trying to do? maybe there’s other ways people can suggest.

I was thinking if you could somehow presence the energy of the full Moon, you could do any of these rituals on any day.

Maybe try charging a moon-related crystal under the light of the full moon, like a battery.

Charging things under a full moon for full moon energy might be a decent idea indeed.

I’m curious what the intended goal is with these operations. Going on title of the grimoire alone sounds like manifesting something using the full moon to empower it. That would mean you charge using a ritual every mooncycle and let it run it’s course and optionally refresh the next mooncycle. There’s probably no real advantage repeating the powerup another 28 times in the meantime.

As @Mulberry says, the full moon might be a important part of the ritual or not. It’s hard to get what is the perceptive of the author and its cosmology. Using the full moon can be through symbolism, or energy or spirit modality. Some authlrs use at least one of those modalities to perform magick. If an author say “it’s symbolic” then i won’t wait for the full moon to perform full moon magick.

The idea is to be able to use any sigil in the book for its intended purpose at any time of the month whether it is full moon waxing, waining, new.

You can also channel the power of the full moon with Nyx into a sigil or a portal that emanates such energy. It’s actually easier than it seems!

Most people use moon water, you can also charge water from different moon phases, you can also charge objects like candles and other things use in spell in the light of the full moon and store them for later use in spell

I also heard something about moon cords
where you take a longer thicker cord and charge it under the light of the moon phase and basically do some prayer to the Moon Goddess of the particular moon phase where you ask her to charge the cord with the power of that moon phase
and then you use the cord during a ritual for example you put it on your main hand around when you charge objects with your intentions for a spell

For those of you who need to practice rites to nocturnal and/or lunar deities during the daylight hours, there is a simple solution. Go to a dark room and recite the chant “ILTONDARA ILNASSA ILSAT” three times. This chant calls on Hecate alongside her avatars Trivia and Ereshkygal to presence nocturnal and lunar energy.
