Ask for Proof, kinda? [Our obligatory annual skeptic troll - BANNED]

I dont want to be dude number 10 million to call this forum fake but I hope you can see it from my perspective.

My question is if there is anything I can do to atleast get some physical proof this here is real, maybe a small cut on my body or something levitating idk.

Think about it this way: if there were a way to definitely prove it, you wouldn’t have to ask it here. There would already be countless proofs for you to choose from, from YouTube videos showing magic happening to science papers measuring the effectiveness of evoking a particular demon with different currents. We’d live in a completely different world, with governments, corporations, and other entities not only having sorcerers on their payroll, but also trying to get exclusive deals with different spirits and trying to monopolize access to them. Do you see something like this happening?

Hell, I’ll make it even more difficult for you: even plenty of prominent practitioners, among them literal creators of very respected currents, weren’t entirely sure whether magic only happens in their heads

So for most respected creators all of it could just be in their head? Is there anything i can do to atleast have some mental proof for it?

the only thing i have been doing independantly of like magick is lucid dreaming but that is provable but also kinda paranormal compared to everyday life

You can do stuff and get results. The forums are full of success stories. The problem is that most of those success stories seem like a happy accident. Like, you do a goetic ritual asking for money, and then, a week later, an acquaintance gives you back the money you lent them a long time ago and had already written off as a lost cause.

The problem is, you can’t show a correlation between your ritual and the other person spontaneously deciding to give you your money back. No matter how many times you do it, you (and other people, too) can write it off as an accident. You won’t get proof of that.

But what about people who talk to spirits and see them? A skeptic would argue that they convinced themselves very hard that they can see and speak to them. But what if the spirits tell you something you didn’t know beforehand? Well, says a skeptic, how do you know you didn’t learn it from somewhere else and didn’t consciously remember it? And so.

i mean thats what im asking for, something that proves to me that magick is true, im pretty sure hearing voices would convince me enough to believe it

You should introduce yourself first in Introduce Yourself To Members Of The Forum 2.0
By stating:

  • Where are you from?
  • How long have you been practicing?
  • Do you follow any particular system or tradition?
  • Do you have any practical experience in magick?
  • Current ambitions/struggles

Even if you have never practiced magic or believe in it, you should post your introduction as per the forum rules as a first poster.

Other than that, to answer you, we don’t owe the burden of proof to newcomers and can only invite you to test it out for yourself, as you fortunately seem to be open to. I will reiterate what McCarthy said in The Glitch Bottle when asked about the veracity of magic: “Do a ritual yourself and see if it works”.

That’s how I did it, I obtained results and transitioning from dismissing the occult to at least being intrigued, and then testing more and getting more results, then curious, then up to a certain point gaining a certain confidence with the real aspect of it.

I started out with sigils as they require no real materials or occult experience other than the knowledge of the method and applying it; and got results from it that couldn’t really be explained by coincidence or placebo when I had the exact same result 4 times in a row from the same sigil, and I myself came from a scientist perspective before I arrived in the occult. Learn more about sigils perhaps and how to make one, how to charge it, then observe and see if it brings the purported changes.

I find it works better at first when you use it for inner change in emotions or state of being, such as if you’re feeling lonely for example and a good experience to try out if you intentionally isolate yourself to test it out, see if you’re still feeling it after charging a sigil made to counter-act that. It worked for me and did so for 5 to 6 days every time I charged it, it was a while ago but it was the first ritual I did, personally. And then you can go from there into deeper concepts of the occult.

Alternatively, and what may be more efficient for you is to check this thread and apply the tips provided:

Thanks guys!

This is off topic for the forum. We are a discussion forum for genuine students of magick, and we do not pander to skeptics who are not here in good faith, and can’t even be bothered to read around the forum to understand our point of view.

:100: They either want to be spoon-fed and convinced, taking our time that they are too lazy to put in themselves, or they already make up thier mind and are wasting everyone’s time basically trolling.

By contrast we have had many new users here who came with an open mind and said “can it work for me?” who join in and put in the work to learn. … that is a totally different approach and we support those people.
"You’re all fake, I’ll sit on my ass and want you to run around to proving me wrong" isn’t worth our time. It’s deliberately antagonistic, attempting to provoke a reaction - and that is the definition of a troll post.

It’s also LITERALLY in the Getting Started Guide he obviously didn’t give 30 seconds to scrolling through, which proves the point.

The skeptic is banned. :woman_s_boot:

The sad part is, in their belief that magick can’t work, they are working magick to absolutely ensure that it never will for them. Not our problem.
