21-Day Fasting Calendar

I am sharing a 21-day fasting ritual that my church is currently doing. You are free to modify this for your purposes etc.

“The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41

January 8, 2018 – January 28, 2018

1/8 to 1/14 - (Day 1 - Day 7) Fast, NO beef/pork, NO SNACKS, Eat normal meals
1/15 to 1/24 - (Day 8 - Day 17) Fast From 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, One meal after 6:00 pm (Based on the Prophet Daniel’s fasting in the Old Testament)
1/25 to 1/28 - (Day 18 - Day 21) Liquid Fast Only

During this, you practice your meditation and prayer/ritual.

A Muslim gentleman pointed out to me that this looks similar to a Ramadan fast. He also mentioned that in Islam practices many of the rituals that are shown in the Old Testament.

So here it is. You all may use this for your own LHP or RHP purposes.


I read somewhere (probably on the blog for this site) that it’s possible one of the reasons folks in the Mediterranean have such good health isn’t just the fabled Mediterranean diet, but the strict calendar of religious fasting that the countries concerned traditionally follow - and which, like your example, doesn’t always mean total avoidance of all food, but often cutting out meat for period, or sweets and other “vices” during Lent.

Just adding this for anyone who wants to research that further. :smiley:
